In Canada, they're located in Markham, ON and nice people (eh?:). Go to their office for spares, easier and quicker than mailorder and much cheaper (shipping on my battery would have been $30USD - spare battery cost $28, which is way better than the F'shop or B'buy equivalents). Pleased with the player so far. Played pre-recorded and many home burned DVD's. Plays all regions with the hack (tested Region 1, 2 and none).

CVD? $150 3 days 8 of 10 MP3 long filename Comments: Great Little Player, I burn movies from netflix on Fujifilm dvd-r 8x, on a emprex dvd burner using dvdshring and dvddecrypter and I have no problems with this little player, I have thrown about 20 discs and not a flaw up to this point, Its a must buy!!! and great deal. only down fall is that it doesn't come with a case, and the sound I can deal with, just dont take it into a noisy room without headphones.

A little flimsy, and the built in speakers suck, but it plays almost anything you can throw at it, and has every cable you could ever want. With the region hack, I don't have any commercial product it won't play. That includes DVDs from almost every region in the world. Picked it up at Wal-Mart to test out the DVDs I was making on the computer. It ended up being used for everything but. This is great to take on a trip. The only real downside to this player is it has trouble with LPCM encoded discs. The only place you should encounter them is with home-burnt DVDs, but it's still a downside.

CVD? $175 1 days 7 of 10 JPG/JPEG MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG DivX Comments: I think its a great DVD player especially compared to the initial 4.5 i had before.. but one major gripe.. did anybody else have a problem with the way this thing reads DVDs? like some of the color spectrum especially in the orangish color range turn up green on the screen? Like garfield was orange with green stripes in the Garfield movie.

CVD? $400 7 days 8 of 10 Comments: Ok, I'm not disapointed with this player. I agree with everyone else, the sounds sucks when using the built in speaker. Way too quiet. But with earphones on I need to push the sound almost all the way off. Also I concur that the DVD cover is very flimsy. (still acceptable). Now it did play some VCD's I made and burned on Khypermedia. It also played a Multi-movie VCD on DVD-R (nice) that feature. For some reason I shoved in one of those Small DVD's and it wouldn't recognise it.. too small maybe? Tonight I'll D/L a demo Mpeg 4 maker and see what happens when I pervert a VCD to Divx, and see if it will play is as a Mpeg4 data disk.

However the built in speakers are a joke. Sound is awesome with headphone or car stereo. It even has some 3D soundfield and equalizer options. love it.

CVD? $? 2 days 9 of 10 Comments: It has played all DVD+R and +RWs movies I have tried. The built-in speakers are not very loud, even at the highest setting. Picture is good but DVD cover that you open and close when you put in a DVD seems flimsy. It is the best value I could find considering you can buy a $16 3 year warrenty. These things would seem to break easily since most of us are buying them for our children.

CVD? $200 180 days No rating Comments: Player works great. Only problem that I am currently having is with DVDs made from DVDXCOPY Platinum 4.0.3.8. When ever I put a disk in, all it says is no disc.

CVD? $200 7 days 9 of 10 JPG/JPEG Comments: Like other reviews, this player ROCKS. 200 bucks at Wal Mart,and a $16 replacement warr. Cant beat it HIGHLY reccomended. Have had unit for about 10 days. NOT a problem as of yet. Anyone know how to expand the Letter box setting ? thanx

CVD? $200 1 days 8 of 10 Comments: Bought at Walmart. VCD works. SVCD works. (it even writes "SVCD" loaded) NOTE: If you change DVDs from DVR+R to DVD-R that is has to be rebooted before it recognizes new DVD. I was testing with CHEAP CompUSA DVD+/-Rs - all worked. I have tried a lot of Low-resolution DVDs as tempgenc calls them. They store 6 hours of movies with lower sound/pic quality - they all worked well. Speakers terrible at high volume. Normal Volume OK. Why is there no fast forward on the box? - there is one on the remote.

CVD? $200 5 days 9 of 10 Comments: Quite impressed. Originally purchased Kawasaki 6.5"(made by Alco Electronics.) Took back after one day. Screen was washed out even at highest contrast levels and the picture was very blocky. The store where I purchased the Kawasaki only had simulated pictures on all of the models....so, I went to Walmart. They had several models hooked up and running real DVDs....some of the portables are really pretty bad. I was very impressed in the depth of color and resolution of the Durabrand DUR-1700. While the Magnavox was a couple of dollars more (and recommended by the sales staff) the picture on the Durabrand was far superior. The DUR-1700 appears to be made by Initial (and supported by them.) It's more stylish than most (black and silver with black around the LCD which enhances the contrast.) 2 Headphone ports is nice. Comes with car adapter and 3.5 hour lithium battery and AV cables to hook up to TV. Lacks the cheesy headphones that come with many, but, hey I would have thrown them away anyway for some good ones. The quality seems to be top notch. Besides, buy either online or in the store.....then go online and buy the 3 year replacement warranty for around $16. Hard to beat that. I would highly recommend.

CVD? $200 14 days 8 of 10 Comments: Not a bad player. Remote is decent and the battery works for 3 hours. The only complaint that I have is the speakers do not get very loud. In fact it only really works well with headphones. If you buy this player from walmart, make sure to go online afterword and purchase the keep it new program for it. $16 for 3 years... Not too bad, if anything happens they will replace it. That is cheap!
