Medium DVD player. The colour is not very strong, and sometimes fails in the detail.

Plays almost every Divx (some of them have the framerate very low, wich is very annoying)

Has only ability to read .srt subtitles, after an upgrade.
Unfortunately, in my case, the big lines of subtitles are cut! Some words don't appear!

Nice player. Reads almost everything, even .SRT subtitles in DIVX cd/dvd.
Has a small problem: When I press the remote controll volume(-) key of my yamaha v630rds av receiver, the denver dvd player goes to title menu.

Great for the price... cheap but with cheap plastic materials used, good divx playback, with subtitles after patch, some problems reading DVD+RW at the end of the disc (frames jump), and subtitles sometimes stop after 15-20min of play.
I haven't found the solution for the subtitles stoping, but it doesn't happen all the time, only with some movies! Strange...
The problem with the DVD+RW at the end of the disc may be due to the speed of the writing (4X) or the DVD session type, I haven't tryed all the possibilities!
Things to try: writing DVDs at slower speeds; using ISO capital letters on .avi and .srt files; using short filenames...

Note that this player is a clone of Yamada DVX 6600. So you can use the firmware of yamada to improve the setup menu of the player. Even the MTZ firmware can be used for upgrade.

Hello,

It's a very nice DVD Player. The version on the DVD didn't read the sub title on the DivX movies. But the Denver web site, have an upgrade to read the *.SRT sub titles files. You can get the upgrade on the DENVER web site or use this small link:

http://tinylink.com/?SYUYs2iDVC

After I have made de upgrade, I have got a problem. With a JPG CD, some times the picture can't be diplayed. I have to make next to jump to the next picture. This not happend on a specific picture. I take the cd out, and put again, and this will happened again on another picture. When I make next to Jump, I will not see the picture, and will happened again on a picture forward.

I'm trying to get by DENVER the original version of the firmware DVD player.

Have any one got the same problem?

Regards,
Carlos Loureiro
(Portugal)

It´s a nice DVD player ia all aspects, even design. Better than my ex DVD Denver 186K.
The drawer seems to be very delicated
After the firmware upgrade i have already subtitles but on the left side. Subtitles must be SRT with the same name as the movie.
It´s a multiregion DVD player also.
It´s ok for the price.

Dino

Its a nice player for the price.
The 5.1 sound is ok and i had to upgrade the firmware to support subtitles.
The Subtitles show in left instead in center.
When we fast forward the movie, the subtitles disapear.
I've a workaround:
Press the slow motion button many times until you get subtitles :)
I've also tryed the firmware of Yamada 6600 but it doesnt accept the disc (Unkown Disc).Maybe its because the name of the files.

Video quality is quite acceptable considering the overall cost of the unit. After upgrading the the recommended firmware, the subtitles started to work fine. However, it loses the subtitles unexpectedly after 20 min of playing. I don't understand the reason. It has happened in all DivX CD discs I tried.

A cheap player that plays Xvid/DivX with no problems. I even managed to get .srt subtitles to work when using short filenames and all uppercase letters burning the CD with ISO Level 1 filenames. Otherwise there seems to be some problem with that.

NOTE however that the image quality of this player is very poor. DivX/Xvid that when played through my computer connected to my TV I cannot distinguish from DVD's are incredibly blocky and full of artifacts when played in the Denver DVD player. Even DVD's play back with somewhat bad quality, although this probably isn't too noticable for most users and new high quality dvd's on an ordniary TV.

After updating the player with a pre-recorded CD with the firmware from Denver, the player started to show subtitles in srt format. The problem is that it eats some words, the lenght for subtitles seems to be unsuficient. The srt subtitles must have the same name of the DivX movie.

It seems to be an authorized copy of Umax YAMADA DVX 6600. The menus are the same, I tested the same kind of media on both and worked. Maybe later I'll make an update to my review. Meanwhile, I believe that this player is able to read almost everything, like YAMADA model.

Cost about 79 eur (799 skr) on Siba in Sweden.

As any salesmen on a store like Siba, ElGiganten, OnOff and so on, they don´t know any more about the product than what´s labeled on the box. So i bought the dvd player don´t knowing what it capable of.

But it really play´s everything i put in it, also dl the crt-upgrade from http://www.denver.dk.
I dl 10 xvid-episodes of "Joey" and burned it into root-dir along whit 10 *.crt files.....and it works great.

I mixed all sorts of format in the root-dir and it start up everything.

But!...there is a but, if i burn the dvd to fast, ore i have to many processes ongoing at the same time i burn...the media placed att the end of the dvd-media sems to flicker and "jump" a bit.
Dont know if it is my pc or the dvd that is sensetive :-/

A very nice DVd player especially considering the price. Bought it @ Carrefour Belgium aswell for 79€.

I have patched the firmware with the software from Denver's official site (linked on this very page), but even once patched I cannot read subtitles.

The SRT file has exact same name than the AVI file, case included, and nothing seems to work.

I must do something wrong but what ? Have looked through whole Google for a topic about this issue and haven't found. :-(

I think the player is the same as the yamada dvx-6600. same, has same setupmenu, same firmware-check-code,...
So probably the firmware on their site works also with this denver 228, and you can watch subs.
Played everything i tried. Even stubborn divx-files where the video sometimes freezes just keeps playing on the player.
Bought @ Carrefour Belgium @ €79,99
