CVD? $900 90 days 10 of 10 Comments: The best DVD-player on this side(the cheaper side)of the bigbrother Denon 2900. Only downside, witch is no big of a deal is that is wants good media. Have tried this medias: Traxdata DVD-R 4x(RITEKG04) Traxdata DVD+R 4x(RICOHJPNR01) RiDisc DVD-R 4x(RITEKG04) Ritek DVD+R 4xGrade-A Overprinted (RICOHJPNR01) Platinum DVD+R 4x(RITEK R02) Platinum DVD+R 4x(RICOHJPNR01) Datawrite Red (V2)4x(AN31)(this disk is working but does not have the same high readrate as the rest) These works on this player probably of high readrate on discs in dvd info pro. This Media is working(if they start at all) but it freezes seval time on a movie so they are no good for this machine: Datawrite Red (V2)(INFOSMART01.) Nanya (NANYA-JC001) Princo (Princo) SW Tech (OPTODISCR004) All discs are burned with a NEC 1300 exept for the Platinum and RiDisc and some Princo who is burned with the new NEC 2510. But dispite the media this is the best DVD-player for these kind of money with pure,sharp picture and sound. It is a waste of money to put this machine on a standard TV, a 32-36" 16:9 Widescreen or even better a 42" or bigger Plasma screen is what this machine is worth to have. Can only give this machine one rating, and that is the best possible. The only real backside is that i now have to shop for a bigger 36"+ or even a plasma-screen and upgrade my sourroundsystem from good to verry good system.

CVD? $? 30 days 10 of 10 Comments: Really pleased with audio and video quality on CD and DVD. BUT, my unit gets so hot after 30 min that I cannot touch the top.

I use it for audio and mp3 discs and for self created dvd's and (s)vcd as well as jpeg coming from my Canon Powershot A80 digital camera. The audio of the player is unbelievable. Like some viewers already mentioned, you completely rediscover your cd collecion. Also the mp3 quality is very good. I only use self created mp3 files with a bitrates (>224kbps)recorded on cdr's of 700, 800 or even 870 MB storage capacity. I use Nero. The audioquality of mp3 is very (!!) good. Filenames are shown on the player's display (just like with minidisc). Only disadvantage is that no long filenames are displayed. Maybe there will be firmware to solve this (I hope so). The videoquality is also excellent. No delay while switching layers. Excellent sound. I already had a lot of self recorded dvd's when I bought this player. I read in the manual that it is capable of playing dvd-r/rw and dvd +r/rw. Unfortunately this player is quite picky. I tested al lot. BE SURE NOT TO PUT ANY LABELS ON THE DISCS. The player won't recognize most discs. Without label it plays most discs. I allready found out. Here is a list of recordable dvd's I already tested succesfully. CD-R brands all work. PHILIPS DVD+RW 2,4 sp Manuf. code RICOHJPN001 TDK DVD+R 4 speed RICOHJPN001/002 TDK DVD-RW 2 speed Manuf. code TDK502sakuM3 THAT'S WRTE DVD-R 4 speed LEADDATA EMTEC DVD-R 2,4 speed DDD-DVDR EMTEC DVD+R 2 speed CMCMAG (Codes found out through DVDIDENTIFIER) I sugest anyone buying this player, to STICK TO discs manufactured by RICOH. (Philips, TDK or even Imation). They work very fine with no problems at all! Nothing is more frustrating than putting a lot of work in creating a DVD and finding out that it doesn't work after playing it for 30 minutes or so!! I recommend anyone to buy this fantastic player!!!! DENON RULES

MP3 VBR WMA CVD? $1000 N/A 10 of 10 DivX Comments: Bought the player primarily for its audio quality, which is outstanding. All my Audio-CD's are new to me :-) The only problem I encountered with the player is when VCD's on CD-R's have self-made stickers/labels on the back. Due to the temperature inside the player the playback will stop after about 20 minutes. Playing the same movie on a CD without a sticker/label on it is perfect. The playback quality of a VCD is very good. One minor inconvenience is the less intuitive way of changing the audio- and subtitle track. (select audio on the remote and change with up or down, press audio again when done). I'll get used to it. All in all a very good player.

CVD? $900 N/A 9 of 10 JPG/JPEG Comments: I found this player needs a DVDR with a good read rate. I had trouble with some discs so I ran them through dvdinfopro and found the read rate dropped low at 1-1.5GB then came back up, this seemed to be where the Denon 2200 started pausing and jumping, but played fine on my other two cheap players. So I burned them at 2x instead of 4x and found the read rate was perfect and they played perfect on the Denon 2200. I now use Ritek G04, Pioneer DVR106D, burned using decrypter at 2x (works perfect everytime on about 20 different players including PS2, havent found a player they dont work on). Other than been a bit touchy with DVDR I have been very impressed with the picture quality this player produces.

MP3 WMA CVD? $500 N/A 9 of 10 JPG/JPEG DVD-JPG DVD-WMA MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG DVD-RAM Comments: I bought the player only a few days ago, but so far all disks that I tried worked just fine. That includes DVD-R (Sony), CD-R (Sony, Memorex, TDK and some other no name stuff). Made the player region-free with the firmware posted on this site. Now it plays at least region 1 and 2 DVDs, PAL and NTSC encoded. Progressive output works for both formats as well, and on my multi-format HDTV I have no issues with images being cut... I have not observed any DVD lagging with the Sony DVD-Rs. I tried some disks with JPEGs. They are correctly shown on TV, however, they load very slowly. But I did not burn a JPEG disk in ISO9660 yet to see if that would improve performance. Other than that I can only complain that the disks load slower than with my previous Onkyo player. But that is a rather minor inconvenience. Plays SACD and DVD-Audio as well. All in all, its performance is absolutely awsome for the money.

CVD? $550 N/A No rating JPG/JPEG Comments: The player has difficulties playing DVD-R and DVD+R disks. I initially used BeALL 4x DVD-R disks but after 15 minutes of playing, the signal starts to lag and becomes progressively worse until it just quits. I had better luck using Memorex DVD+R discs but occasionally these will start to lag at the same point also. I have even tried playing disks created by another burner. All disks play perfectly on a Pioneer DV-45A and also on an inexpensive Panasonic DVD player. I have exchanged the player thinking it was defective but the second unit is performing poorly also. On this unit, the disks start to lag at about 30 minutes into the movie. At this point I am giving up and returning the unit.

It plays DVDA and SACD, VCD, SVCD, DVDR(W) - and +, etc. and has no noticable layer change. For burned DVDs and CDs I tried disks from Ricoh and some No Names, and both caused no problems.
