CVD? $300 over 1 year 8 of 10 Comments: Excellent picture and sound quality and very good construction. Plays many dvd-r's (but not all), all cd-r's, all vcd's. Won't play most dvd+r's. I haven't tried any other recordable medias to date. Was very happy with the purchase at the time. Price paid, $303.00 from Proactive Electronics online.

N/A 3 of 10 Comments: There seem to be different models of the DVD-1000 on the market. I bought a 1000 and it worked fine for about 18 month... I even did not have any trouble with it's ESS-Chipset, the picture an sound it delivered was fine. I got a new 1000 from Denon (after they tried repairing my old one for about 3 month from a known bug in the whole series !!!), and wht schall I say. The new one has a much worse picture than the old one and showed up the same defects as the first one. Techical these Players are a catastrophy. I'd never again purchase a player from Denon. DVD-1000 sold in Germany/Europe, Region Code 2.

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Plays back VCD/SVCDs perfectly, but won't show time counter. Does not play MP3s like most players from this era. Audio CD playback quality is particularly good.

I was an early DVD adopter and am now paying the compatibility price!

N/A 9 of 10 JPG/JPEG Comments: i have tried alsorts of cd-r and they all worked fine i have some really good svds that look as if you are watching on a cheap dvd but i think the quality of the playback depends on the actual origanal file as i cant fault it to be honest (exept for nasty poor quality pirate copys) its probably worth while looking around for a better source then that why you can really test it out!!!!!!!!the only freezing i get is with poor quality sources i use nero like every body else cant understand why people get probs

N/A 7 of 10 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: Has troubles with cheapest CDR disks. VCD and SVCD playback works just fine, if the disk is standard. So far SVCD:s that i got from my friend didn´t work, but ones i made myself work perfectly (well no selectable subtitles). Same goes with VCD. Mpeg streams must be standard, or no playback. Attleast nero warns when you are creating nonstandard vcd. ;-) Player reads mp3 directories and filelists, but there is no mp3 playback. Once i got mpeg playback from normal datacd, where the videoclips were in root directory.. however player processed that disk minute or two before playback.

N/A 10 of 10 Comments: Have set to region code 2 (europe). get SVCD running by creating an SVCD in Nero with special compatibility settings. in Nero on the svcd properties tab go to "compatibility". there are two topics for the mpeg directory and index file, normaly checked "standard". just uncheck the "standard" settings and burn your svcd.

CVD? $400 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Even though I tested a lot of stuff, I still need to test the DVD-R and Mp3s. All CD-Rs work with this, but I have yet to test it with CD-RWs. VCD and SVCD work fine. I'm having trouble fast-forwarding with the SVCDs though. XVCD and XSVCD work fine too, though they take a while to start up. The X(S)VCDs that I used to test had a 6000kbps bitrate. I don't know how high this DVD player goes though. Anyone willing to waste some CDs and try? ;)

CVD? $400 N/A 9 of 10 Comments: Oh, forgot to say that you need to set the regional settings to Region 1 to play SVCD. So you need a Region hack for this to work if you do not have a Region 1 DVD player.

CVD? $400 N/A 9 of 10 Comments: Works with all the CD-R's that I have tested it with. Both NoName and brands. I can get a MP3 directory listing on a MP3 cd. But I cannot get it to play the files. Anyone figured that one out? Perhaps a firmware upgrade?

CVD? $400 N/A No rating Comments: Can playback DVD-R to a certain degree, but the picture starts to stutter or gets stuck very often. Picture/audio are out of sync after that. This doesn't happen at the same point of time during the movies. Problem occurs, no matter at wich bitrate the DVD-R has been encoded.

Able to play SVCD at basically any setting as long as its burned on a cdr. It sometimes takes a little while to read the cdr...but just wait it out.....
