N/A 7 of 10 Comments: I have this player for a while now, but I have one major issue with it: The Pan & Scan option does not seem to work. I can select "Pan & Scan", "Normal" (letterbox) and "16:9" (anamorphic, stretched). Selecting Pan & Scan show just like letterbox; the picture isn't zoomed. This is very annoying when viewing 1:2.35 movies. Other players do do zoom to 16:9 when selecting Pan & Scan. Can anyone else confirm this? I could press the Zoom button, but then the "2X" stays in picture and doesn't go away. Too bad for an otherwise great player.

Also no problems applying the region free hack (using remote control).

But this regionhack doesn't seam to work for me. I don't see an extra menu option/screen. I know that the code: 13698888 has to work on it, because they were handing out the regionhacks at mediamarkt but i can't get them to work. any tips? please let me know.. thank you!!

Cheap electronics, I guess.

N/A 9 of 10 JPG/JPEG Comments: The DVD Player is very good! Good quality, many features and a very nice price. I bought it new by Media-Markt in Germany for 64,99 Euro. The german manual is very small. The original-hardware is build by Yamakawa (dvd-255). This manual is very better. Use it. The Yamakawa Player is a outsourcing firm from daewoo in south corea. See also the manuals from this firm! Altogether the equipment is really good! Noise is small. I am very content.

CVD? $90 N/A 8 of 10 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG DivX MPEGISO Comments: I've tryed Many kind of CD-r and all works, i used to change the bit-rate of my VCD to increase quality an fit all the CD, every bit rate I've tryed works (from 1250 to 2600kbs) the video quality is good for a DVD player that I've payed only 89€!!! I use the Coaxial audio out with an Digital ampli and it works OK! Menù on VCD works good, but to start play the VCD you must press the number of the track on the remote controller.

Only the remote is a little slow and not too far reaching, but this will be solved with a universal remote I plan to buy.

It also plays Kodak Picture CD. You are able to navigate into any ISO CD looking for any JPG, MPG, MP3 file on the CD. My problem is also the manual: it comes with a small manual in spanish. Has anybody the english pdf manual? I would appreciate it.

MP3 Play is WORKING!!!! The stated Bitrates/Problems in the last review is a Problem of the LAME MP3-CODEC!!! Don't use the latest version(s) of this codec and you will encounter NO problems!!! I tested the Fraunhofer MP3-Codec built in Cooledit Pro v2 and an older Lame version (3.87) and both worked perfect even with highest Bitrates/Frequencies!!!!! 2. Just still dont buy this player! You get the same Hardware from Yamakawa (dvd-255) BUT WITH RGB SUPPORT!!! It even has the same Remote control and Firmware! Look into its manual at www.yamakawa.de and you will see the "video-menu" has the entry "RGB" - the Daytek did NOT have it! Thats it for now :-)

MP3 Play is limited to 160kbit with max frequencies or to 16khz with 320kbit (or it sound awful - try 320kbit with 22khz in lame mp3)! This suxx like hell!!! 3. No single frame forward or backward within dvd-play 4. Jpg play has bad quality (always scaled, sometimes slow) 5. Produced by Daewoo, tech by YAMAKAWA!!!!!!!!!!! 6. Not many connection possibilities!
