I think there are two firmware main version (based on different chip). One has no problems with (S)VCD, the other read jpg file.

CVD? $90 N/A 9 of 10 JPG/JPEG DivX MPEGISO Comments: I have one problem with this great DVD player: it doesn't read DVD-R and DVD+R, but only DVD+RW! I didn't try with DVD-RW. For the DVD+R, the player says "NO DISK" For the DVD-R, I have no answer: the player tries to recognize the disk, it takes more than one minutes and no answer from the player. Can anyone help with this problem? Thanks.

N/A 9 of 10 JPG/JPEG DivX MPEGISO Comments: Quando me lo hanno regalato non leggeva VCD ne' SVCD, era region-2 e con il macrovision attivo. Ora non c'è più nulla di tutto ciò :-) I codici segnalati qui funzionano (grazie max). Per il resto non posso fare altro che confermare quanto detto anche dagli altri: il lettore e' superbo, costa una stupidaggine e legge (quasi) tutto. Tra l'altro ho avuto una bella sorpresa quando mi ha letto un cd zeppo di jpg, masterizzato normalmente. Sarei curioso di sapere se legge i DVD+ oltre ai DVD-. Qualcuno ha fatto una prova al riguardo?

CVD $100 N/A 2 of 10 MP3 long filename Comments: RE ALL I'm Italian. The Daewoo S2122 I've bought in Italy if region free, without hack. It Doesn't work with (S)VCD :-( Only DVD and MP3. FOR MP3 I've used Imation, TDK and Verbatim, without troubles. The player comes with 2 year on site warranty. No VCR friendly: U could not connect it to a VCR in a SCART CHAIN because of Macrovision "always on" (i suppose). The package does not include a scart adapter, so if U plan to buy this DVD player, U must also buy one in order to view DVDs on a normal TV or use a device that has VIDEO + AUDIO L+R input. It works with Meliconi multi remote control using code 721.

Mine is Daewoo International one and the 330880 code doesn't work, but the 2188 works fine. I discovered that i just have the region code to 0 but no SVCD reading!!! ANy help/suggestion? I use the following procedure: power on/open tray (button on front panel, no cd inside), setup (in mine language), 2188 version section appeared, go there but region code is at 0, so after? Thanx for any help!!!

CVD? $100 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: I had the same problem as Marco: no VCD and no SVCD. My soft. is M-XQ-M. and region code 2. With the region code hack to 0 (by remote controller) now all works. But the region code hack is not the usual one with the 33088 0 code; instead the code i used is 2188 in the setup menu with the tray open. A new item named version appear,in it you can change the region code; also you can see other info about hardware and software of the DVD.

I called the Daewoo Assistance but they tell me that this DVD player is not prodoct from Daewoo Elettronic but from Daewoo International. This is another type of Mark. Why in this reports the people say that is possible read the VCD and SVCD or XVCD and XSVCD? I'm very angry!!!

On-off switch and not only stand-by/on. Mp3 is cbr that Vbr. mp3 to directed call, and also in way random. Defects. Little ergonomic remote control and not just Standard. escapes single video scart (1) and Svhs(1). management of the tag of the mp3 difficult understanding ...... (at least for mine). if we shape the reader in order to use the digital escape them, on scart the audio more is not felt.... svcd 480*576 until 5000Kb/s it visualizes to you correctly, manages correctly also you form to you various, 720*576, 704*576, 352*576,352*288 supports also svcd with audio to 128 Kb/s

N/A No rating Comments: MP3 max bitrate tested and working: 320 I have burned a cdr with 158 mp3 and I don't know why but 3 of them are not working even if they appears similar to the others. The player reports 155 title, so it doesn't recognize 3 of 158. I haven't found a way to disable macrovision. It works with R2 and R1 title without any hack procedure. I haven't tested with other regions.

I know that the only MAJOR PROBLEM of this DVD Player in ITALY is that there is NO WARRANTY for it and if you have any problem, is NO POSSIBLE TO REPAIR IT. This is because it comes from "parallel importation". I advice you NOT to keep it in a HOT PLACE, like on the top of the amplifier...... GOOD LUCK ;-)) (for me as well)

N/A 10 of 10 miniDVD/cDVD Comments: If your world is MiniDVD's, YOU MUST READ a few words about this baby..... This player is really awesome.....I can create MiniDVDs (burned with Nero) that are perfectly read with menus, chapters and so on. Also with the remote control (and the on screen display) the total time from the beginning or to the end of the movie WORKS great, even from the beginning or to the end of EACH chapter you created !! Obviously with the remote control you can jump from a chapter to another, or 'move' across the movie at x2, x4, x6, x8 speed. As soon as you insert the MiniDVD (CD-R or CD-RW) the player thinks that it has a real DVD inside and automatically starts the main menu! It reads VCD, SVCD and MP3 (unfortunatelly you get just 8 bytes on the file names, but who really cares?), it also has a built-in AC3 decoder, and it looks really nice.... I read about this model in this site a couple of weeks ago, and I looked for it over the net. Finally I found out that it was sold on the Unieuro site (www.unieuro.it), but this company in Italy owns the TRONY group, so I realized that I could buy it there.... It's extremely cheap...in Italy you can find it at 'Trony' stores at 139€ (with 2 years warranty!), otherwise at Carrefour or Panorama malls for about 160€. So, if you want a great player, JUST BUY IT, you really can't go wrong !!! Bye, Alex
