CVD? $? over 1 year 9 of 10 Comments: i've had this player for 3 years. paid too much for it, but it has since proven it's worth. solid! except for the fact that it's VERY picky when it players dvd-r's. don't know why. easy to hack. it's the only player that i know that outputs mp3's digitally. even though i don't really need this. sometimes it gets tempormental, and doesn't read a disc, even though it's read it in the past. i just have to keep reloading it.

MP3 WMA CVD? $90 over 1 year 9 of 10 JPG/JPEG DVD-JPG DivX DVD-RAM Comments: Great Player!...reads most DVD´s, DVD-R´s, VCD´s, mp3´s, etc...(but not DVD+RW, and neither a DVD+R that I tried the other day..however could be a disc error) I have made DVD-R (both movies backed up by myself and authored "original" videos)and plays practically every brand. Just don´t ask for features like NTSC/PAL conversion, etc...and for the price is a great basic player especially if you perform the multiregion/de-macrovision hack (but I don´t know if they still sell it...if they don´t, my next choice would be a Philco player, those are even more compatible)

CVD? $100 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Played my Region 6 disks on it w/ no problem. Didnt have to hack it at all. Used Memorex and Fuji 2.4 DVDR+ disks..only one had error. Records close captioning perfectly Empty title space requires filling it w/ junk and then erasing the title. Played DVDXpress disks perfectly. However it would not play any disks made from my Philips DVDR75. I copied them using Nero 5.5 and those work just fine. So far..good little dvd player. wish it had digital optical out tho...

I've tried to record on different medias (TDK,Optodisc and etc.) and also on different recorders( Toshiba and Panasocnic) but it hangs immediately after loading in Daewoo DVD-5800. However all this medias worked well on other players.

CVD? $90 N/A 10 of 10 MPEGISO Comments: Great picture quality. Plays vcd, svcd, dvd-r and all region disks with no problems. DVD-r used: mainly the least expensive I could find, didn't find any not compatable with it. CD-r used: ditto. created dvds with TMPEG and Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2. DVD menus worked fine. No freezing of any media. However, this is a replacement for my Daewoo 5700 which started to freeze after 2+ years, so it may be a problem in the future-- time will tell.

I have a small collection of region 2 DVDs that this will play flawlessly, also plays any kind of DVD-r, RW, +r i can throw at it, plays picture cds, regular mpgs burned to a cd, vcd's. Macrovision can be removed and regoions too which is another feature i like. this is a player i would recommend.

N/A No rating Comments: Got this at Sam's a few months ago, and it ocassionally freezes on commercial dvds and it will not play my dvd-rs. The dvd-r play well on Pioneer 250 from Walmart and PS2. Do not like remote at all. Richard

CVD $125 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Try about 160 diffient format disks from VCD-CDR, SVCD-CDR,DVD-R,VCD-DVD-R I have,I use cheap disk buy at ebay, burn all at max speed with sony DRU500A or plextor 1610,Nero 5.59 vcdEasy TMPGEnc Ulead DVD workshop,all chapters,menu works fine,DVD2SVCD use CVD sub great,owned this for 1 1/2 yrs now with no problem,try with the sony DVD+R and DVD+RW it works,but the cheaper DVD+ format disk dosen't,it's not a problem, save more money using DVD-R disk,the only problem is I have no luck to find another Daewood DVD player with muti disk changer.

CVD? $80 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Beware not all units will play DVD+RW, and reading at nerd out some didn't play DVDR only were able to play with the 5700 firmware. I just bought my Sony DRU500A and all DVD-R plays ok, even non standard resolution (480x480, 544x480) great, good color (hook on composite) and nice functions (was able to show the bitrate the movie is using), only have problems with DVD+RW not playing at all or with pauses/skips. Even tried a newer 5800 than mine and all the same, I guess the problem is with the loader, I don't know if that firmware can be upgraded.

Plyed every VCD and SVCD i ever put in. Have used Nero 5.5.6.9, VCDEasy, Easy CD creator 5.2, no problems. The only 'issue' I have ever had was with CD-RWs (which I reuse) If I burn them at 12X after doing a quick erase the quality sucks. I just burn at 4X and the quality is fine. This may be a media/burner issue more than a DVD player issue. I am not sure, because they play ok on the PC. Have owned it for 1 year now, using it over 6 times a week and it is still good as new. With the region-free remote hack, it is hard to beat for the $$$$. Would give it a 10 if it was a 5-disc changer.

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: It plays generic dvd-r's with no problems. It also plays dvd-rw when encoded at the proper bit rate-.ac3 helps with this part.

CVD? $90 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Very nice quality, easy to use, solid case. I especially liked the rubber feet, so it does not slide around when you place it on top of plastic cases of other things. I'm going to take it back to the store though. It does not support DVD+RW, and that is what came with my computer. So I am going to buy another model that supports DVD+RW and DVD+R. Good machine for the money, but don't pay more than $90!

Have run into some problems with it not playing the entire SVCD. Sometimes it will stop leaving the last several minutes unplayed. Plays MP3 great as well as VCD. Digi-coax out for 5.1 surround is awesome. Haven't tested the D/A converter on it for analog audio. Using it to play PAL movies on an NTSC tv and visa versa is good too. And its already 220V capable, so take it to Europe and with the appropriate plug adapter you can watch any region DVD (with hack).

It supports random play and will scroll ID3 tag info accross the bottom of the screen during play. While navigating through the mp3s it will show the filename on the front of the player, but I can't get it to do that while playing...

CVD? $90 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Sadly it does not play selectable subtitles, even though the manual says it does. I tested Imation CD-RW's burned at 4x. Fujifilm CD-R's burned at 24x and 16x. It seems to work with most standard SVCD's. VCD's worked pretty well too. It would not play the Spiderman SVCD 3-disc "weird invalid MPEG track set". Maybe because it's PAL. It crashed when I used SVCD's with too many chapters (accidentally burned a disc with a chapter every 6 seconds).
