Its compact, has a cool blue light, and makes a cool addition to any shelf system, if you have limited space in your house or apartment (i.e. people in cramped dorm rooms.) It has a nice elegant style. It supports Dolby Digital sound and DTS Digital OUT. Well the picture is crisp and clear in my opinion and the sound is great. VCD's (Originals and CD-R's) play flawlessly. You can even pause the VCD's, which is a feature that some DVD players don't have. Mp3's are ok, you dont get a menu or anything spectacular. I've played a couple Mp3 cD-r's and it just plays each mp3 like a cd track. So if you have a lot of mp3's in a lot of folders, prepared to do some major work with the skip track button. Audio quality of the playback of course depends on how good the encoding is, but the ones i used which were encoded at 128, sounds great. DVD playback is awesome as well! Even with dual layered discs I havent noticed any skipping, pausing or anything when switching between layers. Every DVD i could throw at it works without a hitch. The company that makes this unit even releases easy to use updates for their DVD player and are easily acessible through the Cyberhome webpage. The menu system internal to dvd is great and simple. Giving you choices for sound setup, video (you can stretch certain DVD's to go from the widescreen to full), you can also set default subtitle languages. The menu itself can also be displayed in various languages. Although this isnt as feature rich as a Sony player, this little DVD player with its versatility alone will wow you. Add to that the fact of getting going is easy as pie and teh control only adds to the ease of use. This thing even has a screen-saver. Is that not cool or what for 80 - 100 bucks?
