Got this player from WH Smiths and had it for over a year. The major Pros and Cons of the player
-Good -
Plays back everything I've thrown at it including VCDs, DVDs and CDs recorded on my PC in diff formats.
-Bad -
--- Played a DVD once that was 4.5 hours long and it kept pausing after 4 hours (every 5 secs). so couldn't watch it all. My friends have also found this on other cheapo players.
--- 10 of my music CDs that I have played regularly on it seem to be crackling now (even when played on PC). Don't know if the player has caused this but seems likely. |

| Piece of crap! Worked perfectly for a month, playing any of the burned dvd's I threw at it. I had no problems with loud motor that other reviewers have complained about. Then, all of a sudden, it just stopped working. Won't play a single disc. Tried all the tricks I could find, nothing worked. Seems like everyone is having this problem. I would not recommend this player to anyone - it doesn't matter what is can play if it doesn't work! |

| After working flawlessly for 11 months, the player now refuses to switch on. This seems to be a common problem if you search the internet. Cyberhome support (in the UK) is restricted to a swap out - but they dont have any in stock !! So you are stuck with trying to get WH SMith to give you a refund (they keep trying to refer you back to Cyberhome) :( |

This is a sweet little machine. If you don't have too much ohter stuff involved in your system it is the bomb. Plays everything and I do mean everything my Panasonic Rv-32 wouldn't play. And I sold my Panasonic for the price of this machine.
Life is good. |

I bought this little gem for $40 at Sam's club here in the US. It has served me well for all my VCD/SVCD ventures, as well as playing rented DVDs. I love it!
I have been having problems lately with DVD+R and DVD-R media. I just bought a Sony 8x burner. I haven't determined yet if it's the media I'm buying with or the drive itself. FujiFilm DVD-R media seems to be hit or miss on whether it will play or not, and Memorex DVD+R 4x media would run with some jerks. I tried slowing down the 4x to a 2.4x burn, but I can't tell that it makes any difference. All of this media plays fine in the DVD burner drive in my computer.

Worked perfectly for over a year.
De-regioned the day I got it, played everything thrown at it from any region, NTSC or PAL. Plays VCDs, SVCDs, MP3s and MPGs straight off the disk, with a nice JPG slideshow built in as well.
I've recently purchased a DVD writer for my PC and it both DVD+Rs and DVD+RWs burnt on that play fine.
Unfortunately, we had a thunderstorm last night and a nearby lighting strike caused a power-surge which caused the unit to release it's magic smoke... so if you have one of these, I recommend surge protection. |

My son bought 2 on my recommendation and his friends could not believe that something so small could deliver the goods that this little jem does so they went out and purchased a couple each. I'd been having problems playing DVD-R backups of movies on my Wharfedale DVD player (about 1 in 4 worked) and Toshiba (none worked) read the reviews on this site and this player came highly recommended. As it was only £50 I thought what have I got to lose and bought one. Just got it home and set it up. Fair enough it's a bit cheap looking and tiny but if it does what I want who cares. Got out all the old DVD-r's that I had burnt and thought were coasters and everyone has worked. If only I'd kept all the ones I'd binned. Anyway it's a great no thrills player that does what it was designed to do not like my £300 Toshiba and £180 Wharfedale.
One thing though. The instructions I got from WHSmith's to make it multi region weren't quite right. Maybe the menus have changed since they were written. But after playing around for a while I finally changed it via the remote to multi region. |

After reading the reports on here I decided to make the purchase.
Excellent piece of kit at an amazing price. I paid £250 for a chipped Samsung 709 3 years ago but it's no good with CDR/DVDR at all plus you have to set the region each time you change regions.
Not only does this player recognise recordable media but also handles mp3s, jpg and mpgs. I put in a memorex DVD+R disc with some mp3's and mpgs on and it handled them. the mp3's were at different bitrates, ranging from 128-256 and it read them all ok. It didn't see a couple in one of the folders but it played them ok. My only gripe with the mp3 support is it doesn't read long filenames too well and there is no volume control.
I have tried out VCD's burnt in Nero on different CDR and CDRW media and it recognised them happily - even on the pikeyest CDR's I had lying around. I have also tried out a film on a Ricoh and Verbatim DVD+RW's burnt in Neo DVD Studio and it easily played that as well.
The multi region hack is slightly different from the one on the sheet WH Smith give you but someone has already put the link up.
The other great thing about this player is it will play NTSC titles in PAL format which is great for me as my Ferguson W/S doesn't like NTSC too much. RCE titles play with no quibbles at all. The zoom mode is quite good on 2:35 titles if you require Pan and Scan on a small TV.
It also has settings you can tweak with the picture and brightness plus Audio reverb effects and a setting that can boost quiet audio on DVD's.
All in all I'm blown away with the value for money from this tiny little silver box. My only minor gripes are no DivX support and the lack of volume control for playing mp3's or Audio CD's. Hopefully there will be some firmware upgrades somewhere down the line for these. |

My second DVD player.
Bought this for £50 pounds from WH Smith after returning a Pacific 1002w (my first) from Asda.
The Pacific 1002w did not play 'Beauty and the Beast' properly. There were a lot of pauses throughout the film. The Cyberhome played it perfectly.
Tried WMAs, MP3s and JPGs, all worked and the interface is much better than the Pacific.
Only the lack of a volume control is lacking. I couldn't care less about the Cyberhome 400 not having a frontal display. |

I can confirm that this player plays Ksvcd's
:)
I had the Pacific1002W from Asda, but it wouldn't play ksvcd, so took it back and bought this from WH Smiths £49.99 today, This machine is sooo small and has so many extra features that I have not seen before, IE it shows the bitrate when playing MP3 and when playing a ksvcd. also it has a many sound fx for different echo sounds.
Looking for a cheap'ish do it all player?, Buy this :) |

It is £50 in WHSmiths in the UK.
I bought mine, because it was cheaper than a portable CD player for work. I have set it up, and now i couldn't be happier. It even fits in a desk for safe keeping.
For the price it is a fanastic player, even for just CDs and MP3's. Shame there isn't a proper headphone socket though, but rigging it from the phono sockets works quite well.
I thoroughly recommend this to anyone, but beware!!!! They are going from shops fast.
Big branches like Blue Water are even running out of stock very fast.
Well done Cyberhome... a fantastic system. |

The reason it was jittery is because I was watching the whole thing in 2x zoom. (wouldn't you on a 14" tv) It plays fine at regular size. |
