| This is probably the worst DVD player I have ever owned, and I've had lots. I originally bought this because it was cheap and small and I needed something for the master bedroom. Although it handled media well, it had serious problems randomly skipping during playbacks. This one was a lemon. I put up with this crap for at least a couple of years, but I finally went out and tried a different cheaper model available at Wal-Mart. Under $30, I found the Durabrand DVD-1002, which has been superior in every respect (except the flip-top format), and handles media much better than new models that are more expensive. Who cares if it came from Wal-Mart... it's cheap and does the job properly (the Durabrand model that is). Except you'll be lucky to find any remaining black models at a Wal-Mart. |

I copied the MPEGISO files from vcd on the hard drive and copied them on TDK 8x printable dvd-R media using Nero 6, this player can not play them but the dvd played fine on my other Jwin dvd player.
This player should be able to read DVD-MPEGISO as stated, may be it can only read certain brand of dvd.
Any solutions ? |

For a cheap player, it is working great. My wife and I purchased it to have a player for our son until our Zenith burner gets out of the shop. So far, it has been able to play anything we have put into it (currently region 1 and 2 disks) including disks made on my computer and in my zenith burner. The region free setting is easy to apply and works like a charm.
For the $34 dollars it cost at Wal-mart, I would recommend it for anyone. |

| It's really bad player. First few months it played OK most of DVDs but then it developed a lot of problems with reading: random hangs, stops, pauses, etc. Some discs played with jumps (freezing for a second or two then jumping over this time gap). All these discs were played excelently on a computer and other DVD players. It does not read Maxell DVD+RW. Has problems reading DVD+/-R. |

I got it at a local store for $24 + tax.
I've tested home DVD movies I made with iMovie/iDVD on a Mac that was burnt to DVD-R and it worked. Tested Region2 DVD and saw no problems.
This worked on the CH300 I got from Fry's a week ago. I'm copying pasting the step and edited it a little to make it what I did.
You can take your time putting in the code.
Just close the tray with no disc inside, it will say NO DISC.
On the remote, press MENU, the "non-applicable" slash circle graphic comes up.
Then press 1, (same slash circle), then press 9, and the menu pops up.
My menu says:
Region : 1
Password : ____
Level : 8. Adult
The only way to change the number is to press ENTER on the remote and it then cycles through all the numbers available. I was never given a chance to punch in a number, I tried it and it didn't work.

| I purchased this at Fry's for $24. I was somewhat apprehensive after owning another Cyberhome unit (500). However, this unit surprised me. It is great. The region hack here works great so I can play my French DVDs which I bought when I lived in France. It reads DVD -r disks about the best I've seen. (I use Taiyo Yuden 4x.) It's, also, great with DVD MP3. It has a random function which I like for playing the MP3s. It supports most voltages here and abroad. Connecting the coaxial sound to the proper receiver permits any Dolby and DTS track to function. My only disappointment centers on the remote. It comes with a small footprint tiny crammed together buttons. I find it very difficult to manipulate it by touch. Generally, I have to turn on a light and look at it to hit the proper button. |

I, like many others here, lost the remote for this unit (actually my wife did). I didn't want to pay $20 for a new remote from Cyberhome when the unit cost me $30. After some searching, I found a universal remote which controls the Cyberhome CH-DVD 320 (and should also work on the Cyberhome CH-DVD 300)!
It's Radioshack brand "4-in-1 Family Favorites Remote Control", model 15-2142. Best of all, it's cheap (on sale now for $6.99 and regular price is $9.99). Works like a charm! |

I got this to replace my Samsung DVD-V4600, which played very few of the DVD+R discs I have. This unit plays fine. And I LOVE the region options. You simply (1) turn on the player when it's empty, press MENU 1-9 on the remote and use the ENTER key to toggle through your region options (0, as I understand it, is region-free). I have verified that this does in fact work, I burned a DVD specifically in Region 4 to test, and in Region 1 it gave "Region Error," when I changed to 0 or 4 it played. I love it!
As stated, it has played all DVD+R media I have thrown at it. I have tried Memorex 4x, Memorex 8x, TDK 4x, Imation 8x, "Value Disc" (Office Max)--it played them all. I typically use Ahead Nero Express, DVD Decryptor, or DVD Shrink to record the DVDs.
I wish its fast scan had faster than 20x as an option, and I have noted that while it will view JPEGs it apparently doesn't offer the option to view them as thumbnails. I also wish it viewed MPEG files like my Initial DVD-2540 of 3 years ago did. But overall I am very pleased; I got it for 25 bucks second-hand (only a couple of months old) and actually Wal Mart now sells it for 34 brand-new--you can't beat the price. |

I've got the same problem, with the Trutech 1620 clone of the 1600MU.
While the 300 plays, (with some skips, occassionally) most anything recorded from a PC burner, it will not play Disks recorded from the same company's DVR. |

I rate small now cause I just bought it. Gave it the ultimate test and it played everything I had to throw at it. I have a lot of kids movies that are scratched up and dirty... played right through. My old Apex AD-500W would just skip when it hit a dirty spot and sometimes it would freeze and it wouldn't play Pal vcd's.
I'm going to try the code to change conversion on this cyberhome and hopefully it will last a while, however, considering the reviews, it might overheat and die. Who knows! I'm used to dvd players overheating, many do. |

| I've got 4 of these little gems, and none cost me over $24.95. I have had very few problems with them, considering they are used quite heavily, since I am in the video business. They are used no less that four hours a day, every day. They are all converted to play all region, and the copyguard is shut off. Before I had the 300's, I had an expensive Panasonic, with all the bells and whistles. It tanked, so I bought a 300 as a quick replacement. I'll never by anything else. |

Already have a Koss KS-4110 and was looking for an extra DVD player for the bedroom. The Koss plays vcd's fine, but very tempermental with the DVD-R's I've used. Used Nero, Studio 9, CloneDVD2, etc. and no solutions. Get a lot of 'bad discs' and artifacts during playback.
Enter the CH-DVD 300ZG...picked up at Best Buy for $40 minus the $15 rebate. Set it up and away it went. Very good picture and the volume control on this unit is a nice extra. Once unlocked, played UK PAL DVD's no problem - not even out of sync audio! Paid the same for the Koss, but would definitely get the CyberHome over the Koss any day!
I know there are reports about these units failing and such, but remember...it'll treat you well if you treat it well. |

Hello,
I just purchased this player from Amazon to replace my old coby dvd player which was dead. I have notieced a very peculiar behaviour to this Cyberhome CH-DVD 300 player. I have two dvd writers in my computer a Lite On and Emprex. Both can write at 16X.
Now here is the interesting part, the same media burnt the same way (using DVD Shrink first then burnt Nero) will not play on this dvd player if its burnt from Emprex DVD Writer but will play if burnt from Lite On. Its really surprising, I have tried DVD-R, DVD+R and because of that it will not play half of the burnt dvds that I have because they were burnt with Emprex.
Anyone else had a similar problem.
Anyhelp would be appreciated.

Well, I started about a year ago or so looking for a cheap little dvd player that could play vcd's. I looked into the user reviews on this site, found out about this little handy machine.
Before I bought it, I burned a vcd movie short, took it out to BestBuy, and asked the guy if I could try it out. He hooked up the show model, and it worked! So I bought one, took it home, and so far, it's played damn near everything I've thrown at it.
I see that most others have said that yes, it will play DVD-R's. Good because I'm going to be buying a dvd burner within the next couple of weeks.
Nice little machine. I've made sure it's kept in a cool dry place, mainly for airflow. I knew buying this machine that it had a tendancy to kill itself by overheating. Forewarned is forearmed I guess... |

I won this DVD at a local Supermarket by just 'being there'. To change DVD Player to an ALL REGION, capable of playing on any TV without additional equipment all I did was......
Power on, ensure no DVD in tray, press <<Menu>>, press << 1 >>, press << 9 >>. A grey box came into the middle of the screen shoing the number 1. Down arrow until this shows << 0 >>.
I've checked, switched on, off, taken out the power lead, etc.... and it now shows PAL and NTSC DVD's on my TV without having to buy additioal equipment |

I bought this player NIB off e-bay and it worked great. I've played NTSC and PAL formatted disks and I know that it plays DVD-R, DVD+r and DVD-RW because I've played em all. There ARE some disks that this player will not play that my JVC player does play and vice versa but for the price this is a great player.
Now to the downside... I live in a part of Florida where there are frequent power interruptions and that may hev been the cause but after about a year and a half this player just gave up the ghost. It's like no power is getting to the unit at all.
However at this price I'll just get another and probably invest in a surge protector Its time. |
