CVD? $? over 1 year No rating Comments: I have to say, that despite its unreliability & at times unusual behaviour, it can be very 'naughty!' I think it has always been our favourite. It was given to me as a Xmas present in 2001 by two old college buddies, & recently 'endowed' with the latest firmware upgrade, some minor heatsink additions & a cooling fan operating at just over 2/3max. rating to reduce noise, but still provide sufficient airflow. I'm pleased to say, it is now a better functioning unit.

CVD? $150 N/A 10 of 10 MP3 long filename Comments: I haven't used this player for much, except CDs, VCDs, MP3s and DVDs. I had experienced problems with MP3s - the first couple of seconds of tracks were missed, and there was some skipping on discs burned at high speed. However, since installing the latest firmware update there are no problems with MP3s. Long filenames are now supported, the entire tracks are played successfully, and discs burned at 12 speed seem OK as well. The process of selecting an MP3 from a disc is also considerably improved. I strongly recommend that anyone with this player download and install this update as soon as possible. I should also mention that I have experienced no other problems with this player. It is quiet, has never refused to play a DVD, and is happy with VCDs burned with VCDEasy onto cheap media (50 discs for £8.50). An excellent purchase.

CVD? $30 N/A 8 of 10 JPG/JPEG MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: My friend was new to the DVD market and asked for my help. We went to Circuit City and saw this player for $35. I saw that it was multi region and progressive scan and told him to go for it. Later, we tested different formats to test its compatability with the movies I would burn for him later. The first test was a high-quality XVCD encoded with extra-slow motion precision search and dual pass-VBR @1200 kbps video and 320 kbps audio. This was the only movie that it did not play. This movie played in every player I have and every demo player I tested in the store. I tested many other XVCDs, video encode rate of 750kbps to 2500kbps and audio of 198kbps to 386kbps, and they ALL worked fine. My guess is that the movie that didn't work was different from the other XVCDs only in the extra slow motion precision search, 1200kbps, and high audio of 320kbps all added time to encode the movie wich translates into more precise data written onto the CD-R that the player could not read correctly. It played all other XVCDs, VCDs, and SVCDs fine. Only one movie out of hundreds that didn't play. The second test was picture discs. I am used to making picture discs using the VCD format. In this way, you can view pictures on your TV and simply press the "next" button to go to the next picture. Also, the VCD format supports approx. 2400 pictures on one disc in jpg, bmp, and gif. I tried one of my picture VCDs and the player did not support that format. When I tried "playing" the picture disc, all you saw was random pictures flashing on the TV screen in a blink of an eye. The player does not support picture VCDs, however, it does support discs with only jpg, and burnt as data discs. The number of pictures it can read is also limited to approx. 700. It is also limited in only reading jpg, and not bmp or gif. Overall, this is an excellent player with only minor issues that apply only to encoding buffs. For a mere $35, you get a progressive scan, multi region player that plays DVD, XVCD, VCD, SVCD, MP3(max bit rate of 320kbps), and JPG data disks.

CVD? $50 N/A 9 of 10 Comments: Well its going back to Richersounds. I won't play DVD's! It will play CD's, MP3's and VCD's no problem but no DVD's. Sometimes it does work but after 20 minutes to retries. This is the second machine and needless to say I don't want a replacement I'll pay a bit more for a better machine.

Supports both analogue and digital 5.1 output for those who only have an analogue 5.1 system. Noticed that the frame rate is slower on SVCD's but not too noticable. I haven't really had a problem with the player being noisy except when it turns on at first, my Playstation 2 is the noisiest out of the two. Haven't found many problems except some of the DVD's menu's come out as German as there isn't a language selection on the screen like The Matrix DVD's. It seems like there are different versions as there are mixed problems from player to player so it is chance that you get a really good AD-L 528 player.

I have a sony writer and testit the dvdrw+ and the dvdRW- on the cyberhome but nothing working also testet the same dvd's on a thompson and the playstation2 and they working 100%. So in the future i wil looking to another dvdplayer

N/A 1 of 10 Comments: Got this player 1 year ago since you could turn of macrovision. Nothing but trouble since. E.g. subtitles freeze on Beauty and the Beast special edition. Worse it will not recognize any DVD+RW or DVD+R disk, burnt on either a Philips 208 or a Philips 416 DVD writer. Also very noisy. Don't go near it! I am shopping for one that works.

Have upgraded firmware to 10.01 too. The price has been reduced to £59.95!!!!!!!

CVD? $60 N/A No rating Comments: After hours of reading reviews on this site I finally decided on a Cyberhome ADL528. I bought it from Richersounds in Chester for £69.95!!!! Got it home plugged it in and guess what? It won't play any DVD's! It does play Audio CD's, VCD's and SVCD's no problem. Its going back to be swapped.... I'll post another update when I get the new one.....

N/A No rating Comments: Just bought this DVD player this morning have not had time to test it yet but looked on the Richersounds website (http://www.richersounds.com) and it was priced at £69.95 but when went to buy it this morning from the shop in Leeds they said thank you sir that will be £99.99. After a slight stunned silence i mentioned that it was on there website at £69.95 and i had phoned in and reserved one. The guy had a word with his boss and i got a brand new CyberHome AD-L 528 for under £70 and after reading the reviews i think this is a real bargin. So if your in the UK and near a Richersounds shop look at the web price and then march into the shop and demand it at the web price if it works you have saved yourself a bit of cash. Will post review of the DVD player when i have fully tested it

[rebuild is as fast as crash, therefor i'd say the next firmware update [if possible] would solve my problem.] output volumes of dvd-audio and cd-audio are little different from e.o., but via sp-dif is no difference to be heard on md [minidisc]. last point is - the playa's TOO loud when standing on a wooden board! but best for last - dis playa's design be really cool! greetz, badboi

N/A 6 of 10 Comments: there is a forum here http://forum.cyberhome-help.de/viewforum.php?f=4& ... 5b9a4809da that has a good bit of information and a page here http://www.harkcom.demon.co.uk/ note that DVD-R will work but the folder and filenames must be all UPPERCASE. This is why people have had problems using Nero to burn DVD-R and play them on this player. I think the correct filesystem is UDF 1.02 however I've found that simply making all files and folders adhere to UPPERCASE names makes the DVD-R discs I've got playable on the player. A good "second"/"backup" player.

CVD? $125 N/A 9 of 10 Comments: Have tested all DVD Meadias, all working fine DVD-R ( Princo & Intenso ) ;DVD-RW ( Intenso ); DVD+R ( Platinum ); DVD+RW ( Sony ). I´ve used Sony´s DRU500 with DVD X-Copy or DaVideo onDVD. The quality of the movie ( SVCD ) ist extremly depending on the Firmware of the Player, the newest one isn´t the best. A high quality SVCD with the newest Firmware was only a ( sorry but here I have to use a german spell ) Slide-Show. With the oder Firmware A9.48E the movie ran fine. This Firmware you con get here: http://home.t-online.de/home/0306855728-0001/CHindex1.html ( german / some parts english ). I have this Player since more thas one year and I am really satisfied with my Cybie. It hasn´t the best picture an sound quality but everything I put in the AD528-L... ...it just eats it.
