I have read that this applies to all burnt DVD-R/RW disks but have only personally experienced the problem with my Compacks 6820. Do not use paper based sticky labels on your disks as this affects the thermals (temperature & balance) of your disk causing them to stick or jump. I recently removed a label from one disk and it went from sticking to playing just fine. This problem is identified by disks that play fine for about 30 mins or so and then begin to act up. By the by, I still believe that this is a fine player for the £59 paid last year, although Sony now have models of a similar price (Amazon £62 DVP-NS355) that would tempt me if purchasing now.

N/A 9 of 10 Comments: I have burnt VCD / SVCD DVD-R / DVD-RW in various brands and all work. If you could fit a 45 rpm record into the slot it would probably play it. This machine is 60 quid from Safeway UK and is built by Sampo, who make brand leader products for others. Agree with one user who highlighted that the standby LED should be used to warn ships off rocks, but otherwise a brilliant machine. Everytime I am in anelectrical store I shake my head at people who pay big bucks for top brands that are c**p in comparison to this machine. If you cannot avail of the AB 6820 then try the 5000 - equally as good less the Kareoke function. Dosent matter what you throw at it it will play. It even manages to play my kids Monsters Inc that messed up in the burn process. As long as the disk is round and fits it will play.

N/A 9 of 10 MP3 long filename Comments: This player played just about all brands of CD-r that I could find, and some unbranded ones as well. It plays VCD and SVCD a lot better than my Samsung (and hence thats why I have replaced it) Very little freezing (if any) on playback. I have also played Datawrite Classic (yellow lable) DVD -R disc with no problems at all. For £80 this is an excellent buy so get to Safeways quickly. If I could find a macro hack (which may yet come) I would give it a 10 / 10

N/A 8 of 10 JPG/JPEG DVD-MP3 MPEGISO Comments: Great player, plays almost everything. I burned 4 vcd's onto a DVD using Nero and UDF/ISO mode, this player played them no problem at all. I burned 750 mp3's onto a DVD and burned the same way, this player played them all. I also have a Compacks 5000, i think the only difference is that the AB-6820 has support for karaoke cd+g's. If you can get hold of this player i would snap it up, if not go for the 5000.

N/A 7 of 10 JPG/JPEG Comments: This little machine played everything I threw at it untill recently. Now it is refusing to play certain ORIGINAL disks. Most notably the Godfather Trillogy. Sometimes with DVD+/-R I have to eject and reload the disk for it to get recognised but this isn't a major problem as it can be done from the remote. When set to region 0 i find that R2 disks can have a lipsync problem but that can be sorted by resetting the region code to R2. All in all this is a good budget player for the bedroom or else where in the house but I wouldn't have it for the living room due to a mechanical clunk/tick when playing some movies.

N/A No rating MP3 long filename DivX Comments: a great little unit and very cheap. Got fed up with Samsung 709 not being able to play nearly all types of media. This unit plays everthing.

N/A 7 of 10 Comments: played everything fine untill i tried various dvd-r. it wouldnt boot the disk at all it just kept trying to load the disk the most common ive tried are 120min/4.7GB dvd-r. if anyone has a fix pls email me

N/A 7 of 10 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: There is a support forum for this player at http://forum.wwrs.compacks.com/viewforum.php?f=3 Just got this player to play vcds svcds dvdrs etc. I've applied the multiregion and vcd hacks and it's all ok except:- 1. During playback (of any media) the player sometimes pauses or stops or skips to the next chapter as if the remote control had been used. I thought the remote control might be sending out random signals but even if I put the remote control out of range of the player this still happens. 2. The remote sometimes fails to work. A workaround is to remove the batteries and reinsert them. I've tried with new batteries and this still happens. Dont know if I've got a faulty remote control or is the remote control pickup in the player faulty or is it a firmware problem? Could be just one bad example. Aesthetically, when in standby, the player has a very bright red light on it almost like a torch that is distracting.

It even plays karaoke discs that you'll find someone howling to in ur local boozer,i think COMPACKS must be wanting to go outta business selling this little beauty. I just sit here n laugh at all the money ppl are paying for there expensive dvd players that play nothing but DVD's.... Yet to find any other DVD player that packs so much for so little money.

CVD? $80 N/A 8 of 10 JPG/JPEG Comments: just bought this from local supermarket (safeways) was very impressed with it at first played svcd,vcd with hack, mp3,kodak picture cd, picture was great only down side could not turn off from power switch but turned off with standby will take it back to -morrow to get replacement still very impressed with it hope next one turns off ok
