First of all, this is for the DVD206, However, I have been told this is identical to the DVD207--the only difference being that the DVD206 is sold only by CVS Drug Stores.

It took 60 seconds to hack this thing (the hack located at this site for the DVD207 was too easy) to play all Region discs--it plays them fine (at least all of the Region 2 discs that I tried). This unit also plays almost all DVD-R & DVD+R discs of the many that I tried--only minor freezes or pixels on a few noted so far. It did not play the only DVD+RW I tried. It plays regular DVDs great.

The little remote is not the greatest but you soon get used to it especially the FF/Chapter buttons that are shared to save space.

The only very minor problem that I have is the way you insert the disc into the player. It snaps in instead of drops in. You have to be very careful that the disc is properly snapped in or the disc will not play correctly and you end up putting a few scratches on your disc to boot. It takes 2 or 3 tries for me to get it in properly. I had 2 other similar (non-Coby)snap in units where I did not have this problem.

That disc insertion problem is the only reason why I did not give this unit a 10 out of 10. If this unit dies tomorrow, it was still worth the $20 I paid for it considering the very good DVDR & Region free playback that this heavily used unit gets. Also to note, no overheating problem have been experienced even though it may be on several hours at a time.

Best bang for your buck you can possibly get!!!!!! I am going to try the DVD224 next since that will get rid of the disc insertion problem. I assume the DVD224 will be just as good as the DVD206. Who says you have to pay $80 for a good player????? Get the cheapy and when it dies, laugh as you throw it away instead of cry with an overpriced unit.

Have used this player for almost a year now, had some problems at the beginning, but everything were fine after a few days, the region free hack it`s really easy to do, and the player supports DVD-R/+R as well as CD-R/+R, even Princo!
It seems to overheat a little bit but only if you keep it on stand-by for quite some hours, I usually disconnect it during the night just for prevention.

I`ve used with success : TDK, Verbatim, Maxell, Ridata, RiVision, Princo and Nashua.

Something to add to my last report. My Coby 207 player doesn't play lightly scratched disks (such as rental or library disks) as well as another brand player that I own. The picture pauses, jumps a bit and small squares appear. I thinks this is a real concern if you rent or borrow DVDs

I bought this compact player from h.h. Greg in Ohio.
I tested it by playing the following with no problem:
DVD+R,VCD, SVCD, mp3 burned on DVD+R, jpeg photos
supports long file names on mp3,can foward or reverse 10x in mp3
Runs on 110-240v only with internal power supply
NTSC,Pal switchable, multiregion with simple remote control hack listed under hacks for this model
Laser assembly has 2 lenses, weighs about 1.4 pounds,
playback not affected by vibration of unit, very fast recovery if player subject to extreme vibration,
this player could be bolted in a dump truck and it would not pause or skip, player does not run hot after extended use, instruction manual says this unit delivers over 500 horizontal lines. My unit manufactured Oct. 2004
