Works good enough.
Took some time to find info on this player.
It has been sold under many brand labels. Among others "Akai DV-PX7500" and some Daewoo model. Think it is manufactured by Link Concept, but they seem to have dissapeared.
Some noticable points are:
* The player have problems with XviD (and possibly other MPEG4 containers) that use Packed Bitstream. I advise using a program such as MPEG4Modifier to unpack the bitstream sequences on such AVI files. The file usualy get around 1-2 Mb larger doing this but have no impact on quality (not that you will notice anyway). Sometimes it even get smaller! (Don't know how, but hey....).
* MP3 file playback works good, *BUT* the directory browser / play menu is very limited, not capable of *displaying* long filenames, but still play them. Bear this in mind if you plan on creating some compilation and want to be able to see what the files are. (i.e. name them very short, preferrably only song title and nothing more).
* DivX susbtitles must be "selected" in the browser to work. I have only tried this on .SRT file types, but that works. Mark the file in the browser and press "SUBTITLE" on the remote. The player indicates subtitle as marked for playback. Then start the .AVI file.
* I have come across two of these players in the last year, and both of them have had issues with suddenly stopping to read discs. I have found this problem to be rooted in poor quality of the flat ribbon cable between the controller board and the laser lens/motor package. It, plainly, get worn out by bending when the lens moves. I think I've managed to resolve this issue, atleast good enoug, by removing the cable and strengthen it in appropriate places by wrapping it with standard plastic tape. Do this on your own risk and conciousness. I take no responsiblity for people havocing their hardware. =)
Overall a good player with good compatiblity. Especially for the bargain price it came for.
If anyone know what Firmware to flash this player with, please post info. |

| The brand is Link Concept X-500 (www.lconcept.com) and it can play subtitles (you will have to mark them first and press the 'subtitle' button on the remote before starting the movie) with your divx/xvid movies. |

I had this player for 5 months now and I am very satisfied. Plays my discs from Europe and China as well as them from Mexico and US. Plays VCD and Divx burned on different CD/DVD brands. So far I only got problem with two Xvid files. In total; A good non expensive DVD player with lots of functions as karaoke (my kids love it!).
