It plays SVCD but with no sound.

N/A 9 of 10 miniDVD/cDVD DVD-MP3 MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: Burned a DVD to DVD-RW (Maxell with MCC manufacturer ID (Matsushita Chemicals), but the player just says "No Disc". Burned the same image to a DVD-R, and it plays perfectly fine. Even upgraded the DVD reader firmware to latest 3.7 (from factory 3.2) version that's supposed to cure DVD-RW problems, but no such luck.

Problems: Gets very hot - But you can easly mount a PC cooling fan into the case. (You can get the power from the pc-dvd drive inside) The magnet of the dvd drive was weak - but it is not so important problem.

CVD? $100 N/A 9 of 10 miniDVD/cDVD MP3 long filename Comments: Good Quality player, superb firmware - upgradable. Good picture quality, player is feeding Panasonic 42" Plasma. Good sound quality. Very good, ergonomic remote-control. I bought it first as a second player in order to play Mini-DVDs. When comparing it to my Tosh 210E I decided to keep it as my No.1. It is for sure excellent value for money, can't image to get something better for just Euro 99,-!! I tested its Mini-DVD capability up to 3500 kb/s so far and XSVCD to some 3000 kb/s. I recommend reading the tests on www.rec-dv.de before you are going to buy a new player. I don't give a ten out of ten only because there might come up something even better, who knows?

MP3 support ist great (shows Filename, ID3Tag V1 and also additional Information like Bitrate, ID3Tag Year/Comment). After the firmware update it also has a superb Zoom Option (15 Levels with Skip-Buttons), Macrovision-Off and Region-Free. For Firmware upgrade i strongly recommend www.dv-rec.de. The DVD-Loader built in was manufactured by DVS-Korea Model DSL-710a. On their homepage http://www.dvs.co.kr/project/english/product/710a.htm DVS claims that it can play the following formats: DVD-5, DVD-9, DVD-10, DVD-18, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, MiniDVD, cDVD, CVD, SVCD, DVCD, VCD, CD-Audio, CD-G, Enhanced CD, Mixed CD, CD-R/RW. There is also the possibility of upgrading the Firmware of the DVD-Loader. Another point is that the Player is plays really quiet. I am very happy with it and recommend it.
