Centrum Gemini 332 has most likely the same hardware as 330. So when the next firmware comes, it can be used on both players.

The problem with a player that "hangs up" is well known by the firmware coder. It will be fixed in the next firmware. 332 does NOT have this problem..

1.53 is currently the most recent firmware, but it shows 1.51 when you check :p

CD-R/W:
reads slow from cd-rw discs (picture messed up / unable to fast forward in DivX/XviD files larger than approx. 600 MB), cd-r works fine though

VCD: works fine

SVCD: works fine

SVCD-subs:
only displays the first subtitle stream with no possibility to turn it off or change to stream 2, also doesn't show the first subtitle in the stream

XSVCD: works fine, max resolution 720x576

miniDVD:
you have to manually select the vob (or ifo?) file in the video_ts folder, subtitles doesn't work, don't know about chapters, menues etc.

DivX/XviD:
files play fine
doesn't suuport QPEL
have tested DivX 3, 5.0.2, 5.1.1 and XviD without problems
have tested bitrates of 1900 (+128 for audio) without problems
supports external subtitle files (you select witch file to use then start the movie)
maximum resolution 720x576
with the latest firmware 1.53 it hangs sometimes when you stop the playback or change between files (only DivX/XviD), will hopefully be fixed with the next firmware
also the text shown from external subtitle files is quite unreadable (yellow color + small size) and doesn't support tags (ex. <i>), will hopefully also be fixed in next fw

MP3: works fine

OTHER:
only shows 11 characters of filename/folder when browsing a disc

for the low price it can read everything I have.
I fully confirm all bugs reported.

DVD-Video - work with absolutely no hangs on any dvd support DVD+-R(W) except crappy unbranded support that is difficult to read also on PC

VCD and SVCD - have plenty of them all works with multiple audio and subs. not tested with X(S)VCD

MP3 - tried on any support CD-(W) and DVD+-R(W) some hangs related to the smartnavi. also crappy navigation thru dirs, with only 8 chars displayed. no ID3.

DivX - tried several, most work. To address the question the AC3 stream in DivX is recognized and sent to optical out. I assume it is also decoded internally, even if I didn't test it.

JPEG - work and good quality

I had the Gemini 310 and bought the 330 just to be able to see divx/xvid.

I liked the layout of the Gemini 310 remote much more. The thing I really don't like is that the they removed the volume control. A Plus though is the built in Compressor in the 330.

The new Smart Navi interface is really neat. But as the older 310 it still doesn't support long filenames. so don't buy this to play mp3's on!.
The mp3 player works, but thats about it.

I have the same problems that some people already commented on. If you press the select button before a movie starts to play in the Smart Navi menu the box will hang. And only a hard power off by removing the powercord works to get it back on its feets again.

Also I havn't got slowmotion or zoom to work under divx/xvid.
Also on the Gemini 310 it was possible to fast forward at 20x speed. With the Gemini 330 I found that it's only possible to fast forward at 8x.

Also If I use Fast Reverse and try to fast reverse like 3 minutes back, then it suddenly jumps to somewhere complete diffrently on the dvd. Kewl if you like to be surprised at random. But really annoying! So... sucks!!!

Plus: Plays like almost everything!
Uppgradable firmware and functions
Nice Smart Navi Interface
Built in compressor

Minus: Hangs in the Smart Navi Menu sometimes.
Fast Reverse is quite buggy
No Volume Control
Doesn't support long filenames or id3-tags.

Summary: Really awesome player for that kind of money! Still some bugs that prolly be worked out in a new firmware.

After firmware upgrade to version 1.53 it's plays almost everything!
Brilliant player for video, but not designed for mp3 audio fans.
I had one crash where the power had to be switched off.

It's not essential, but hopefully there will be another firmware release, soon...

btw, Manufacturer is "NetonNet", and there is a 4 digit manufacturer code (0713) for other remote controls.

Bought this a month ago.
Surprised that it gives picture/sound on most *anything* that I've put into it.

Minus:
Subtitles sucks. OK, it's better after the 1.53 FW upgrade but not 100%. Now ÅÄÖ is working but the text is light yellow(!) and almost transparent. Change this please! It also takes 5-15 sec before the text comes up after a FF.

The remote is a joke! Soft, jelly-like buttons with no feeling at all. Slow response as well.
Buttons 0-9 at "wrong" place. Hard to make a search. Pressing OK on wrong place will stop the movie or jump to the next. Etc.

No support neither for long file/directory names nor long MP3 tags. No random play function.

No support for jumping to a certain timestamp in the movie (DivX, Xvid etc)

Display on DVD will not show time continousely if it's not activated to show on the screen too! Stupid.

But the worse: after upgrading to 1.53 it "hangs" completely if you're browsing files and if you press "Select" when a preveiw just have started the same thing happens. Nothing helps but pulling out the power cord. THIS SUCKS!

Plus: Nice design. Price OK (SKR 1190,- around €130).
Plays almost *anything*
Nice JPG and Zoom function.
Firmware upgradeble.

Very good player for this price. Play all my divx collection. Quality is as good as "philips dvd 737".
What I liked most is selectable subtitle with divx(!!!!). Subtitle quality was better with the older firmware then the newer one(1.53), but picture quality is better now. Before, it had for subtitle same (or as good as) script as OSD. Now the scripts are hardly readable (same as "philips dvd 737") from 3 m distance. I hope they will fix it with newer firmware. It has no italic .srt support (like "philips dvd 737"), anoying when you see subtitle with those "<i> and </i> signs.

Not too well designed if you ask me,
Don't play VBR MP3's encoded with Lame.
Either skipps/cracks or gets the whole player to hang.

Don't buy this player if you intend to use it for MP3 playing.

on the +:
The far best player I've tested to show JPEG's.
Really fast JPEG support and very nice Zoom feature.
And best thing of all, it show's the pic's with right aspect ratio!!!

If they would only release a new firmware that improved the MP3 playback.

(and long file/directory support would be nice as well. And please, fix support for international characters in filenames and directories.
Don't support åäö today)

Yes, All done with the latest 1.53 firmware.
Compared against Panasonic S75, JVC N55s.

New firmware out!

http://www.netonnet.se/aktuellt_lasmer.asp?id=7431 (Swedish page) ..

i did like this and it worked nice.. ÅÄÖ works in subtitles. And probably more fixes.

1. Extract .EXE to hard drive.
2. Burn bank30.rom on a CD-R. MAKE SURE TO FINALIZE CD, AND MAKE SURE ITS IN "ISO 9660" MODE.
3. Put CD in dvd-player and wait. The dvd-player will turn it self off when update is done.
4. Press eject and remove the CD when the dvd-player has turned it self off.

I take no responsibility to any damage made on your dvd-player. (if you did right there will be no damage :)

When I received this device it didn't work, power-line connected but not working.
I opened the player and discovered that the connector for the player's display was not connected! After plugged it the player works fine.
That means No final product check before deliver to dealers. Victim of cost reduction product?!

All DivX are played well (3.11, 4.x, 5.x, the quality is very good. The zoom function works till 16X but there is no smooth slow motion but just picture sequence.

With DivX, the time display doesn't work all time on the Player's front display. Sometime the time info is frozen.

Subtitles *.srt doesn't work

With some XVid, the video has some white line and some others XVid the audio is cut randomly.

With MP3 files in subdirectories, the player doesn't start by default at the first directoy. I need to select first a MP3 in a diretocry to start to play. Very inconvenient because I need to switch ON the TV before playing the MP3 music!!!

MP3 files names are shown with the first 8 letters --> confusion to know which title is selected.

That's all for now and I will provide more test results later.
