Comments:
Having read some glowing reviews in Hi Fi Choice Home Entertaiment and What Hi Fi star, where this machine walked away with a bevy of stars, I took the plunge and purchased this machine.

So what do I think? Well I love the machine, the sound qaulity is amazing alot better then the Limit DVDs 800se (tuned by Cyrus) and quite close to the Pionner Dvd 565SA. I think the Cambridge has more tighter bass response and the midrange is crystal clear even better then my Technic SLPG 4 machine.

Now for the important bit, how was picture quality? I hear you cry. The images was extremely sharp and well defined, bhoy i could see the drops of sweat on Captain Kirk's eyebrow on the bridge scene when he first ecounters Khan in ST2. The colours were also very vibrant and in yer face, but with no bleed.

Having tried the progressive mode on my Hitachi PMA400, the images seemed to leap at you and bring you into the film. I would definatly recommend this over the Pionner DVD565 if you are using it on a Plasma.

A true bargain, go and buy one.

It also plays all my discs including the dodgy one picked up in the local market.

Comments:
I recently experienced difficulties persuading
this player to accept SVCDs, and noticed that
the manual explicitly said that this was not
supported.

However, stumbling upon the comments for DVD55,
I noticed a hack that works equally well for this
player, and thus feel it should be mentioned here:

1. Enter setup screen.
2. Press 9, 2, 1, 0 in sequence to bring up a new
menu option, 'Version'.
3. Enter the Version menu, select 'Support mode'
and select 'On'.
4. Shut down the player and restart.

VCDs and SVCDs should now work fine.
See comments for DVD55 for more information.

I too have had DVD-R playback problems. It jumps slightly (like a hic-cup) ever 10-20 secs.

Comments:
Reasonably pleased with this player at present, have experienced some playback difficulties with DVD-r media however I believe the media may be the problem, further testing required. Presently using Datasafe 4x ritech media and have had excellent results so far, more experimentation required. All round decent player that has so far played all that has been put in it.
