N/A 10 of 10 Comments: I bought the player in December 2001 for 47.000 Drs (i.e. 138 Euro). It was perfect until I found some SVCD that it played without sound! I followed the advice on this board and upgraded the firmware using the Veseg site patch (www.veseg.de, on the bottom choose "download", choose DVD player "Beverly hills"). It took less than a minute and now everything is fine!. I also changed back the region code to "all" from "2" using the remote control and pressing successively the keys, "Menu", "7", "4", "2", "0", then pressing "9" and choosing "0" for all. I strongly recomend the patch - however follow the instructions!!!

Laser change in the first two months under guarrantee. Sometimes refuses to load the first inserted disk but all other ok. Worths every cent of it especially when bought 2 years ago.

CVD? $100 N/A 9 of 10 JPG/JPEG Comments: Bought mine for 109euro in Gent, Belgium. Regionfree from the start and yes does not play sound on SVCDs. I read somewhere this was due to the Bluesky expecting 48KHz sound while SVCD is using 44.1KHz sound. As there are Bluesky 100s with different innards, not always reacting in the same manner on the firmware update, I'd rather not take the change of zapping the firmware to play SVCDs but keep it regionfree and working! I'll just buy a DVD burner and put home movies straight on DVD. Mine has occasional problems with very cheap pre-recorded DVDs, but if you load a working DVD first then reload the problematic one it works fine in 99% of the cases. Only had 1 DVD not working on the Bluesky 100 in over a year. Enough features for a nice price, even though new players come out now at same price including JPEG support and sometimes even DiVX. Definitely worth the money!

N/A 8 of 10 MP3 ID3 TAG DivX MPEGISO Comments: Bought Neufunk 2210S at Carrefour @ 75 EUR (no remote control!) and it does play SVCD just fine. No sound glitches at all. But not all my home-made SVCD are accepted. So I found out SVCD has to be written in special (standard?) way: it has to contain these folders: EXT MPEGAV SEGMENT SVCD --SEGMENT folder was often not available on my other SVCD's. They only contain 1 MPEG2 file... So I create an intro background image and since the SEGMENT folder will be created it works well on my player. --SVCD folder I found out sometimes only 3, 4 or 6 files inside. The SVCD's that are playing on my Neufunk/BlueSky all have 6 files inside SVCD folder. These are the filenames: ENTRIES.SVD INFO.SVD LOT.SVD PSD.SVD SEARCH.DAT TRACKS.SVD I don't know if this info makes sense, at least it works for me. I can play SVCD's if 'properly authored' as described above. I didn't use any firmware nor did i press something on the remote control (I don't have one).

Leest de bootdisc, op het display gaat een teller tot 5, daarna gaat het toestel in standby en na enkel seconden telt hij verder tot 10 en daarna niets meer. Na enkele minuten bootdisc terug uitgehaald. Toestel werkt nog perfekt, maar update gebeurd. Een DVD-RW met MP3 leest hij niet, komt steeds met de melding no-disc. Verder prima toestel voor die prijs.

Now I'd like to buy Region 1 DVDs, but I don't know what it is meant by "it is multizone with remote control". I'm not sure if I should use the compbination a previous poster gave for post-firmware modification.... Otherwise, I'm very happy with this player for the basic DVD reading use I make of it, maybe the mechanics are a bit noisy, but for a price slightly above 150Euro at Carrefour in Belgium, it's a perfect choice, and it reads all my MP3 CD-Rs with very good sound. My MP3s are encoded both in CBR and VBR.

Macrovision off: Goto http://www.powerglitch.com/ and download the utility "ABconf". It is a simple tool that makes it easier to change the configuration file 'hws.ab' according to the structure given by the format file 'hwf.ab'.

CVD? $100 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Bought it 109 € at Carrefour - Belgium. Very nice for the price. Flashed successfully with the update at the veseg site. One little problem left : when playing Zone 1 DVDs, I'v got a line of 3 colors at the top of the image. A bit like it is playing in NTSC mode or something like that. Recording on videotape at that time doesn't work either.

I'd like to thunk you for the information about the problem i had with the audio on svcd's disks. Now, perfect video and audio too !!

De software is te vinden op de site van veseg.de Mijn Bluesky 100 is compatibel met de Beverly hils van Veseg.Op deze site is alles duidelijk beschreven maar wel in het duits. Op de site van Holaf(chez.com/holaf/v1.01/firmware/firmdownload.html) kan je ook de nieuwe software en de oude(StCinemaster-build 1.413) terug vinden. There are two ways around this : 1) burn an svcd compliant mpeg2file as a VCD instead of an SVCD : this works with sound, but you no longer have a standard (s)vcd disk. 2) upgrade your firmware as explained in the other comments : this enables sound in svcd, but the digital (coax) audio out no longer works properly for me : with dvd's it still works most of the time, but no longer with *vcd. Haven't tested cdaudio or mp3 yet after applying the firmware, but I assume the same applies. My dolby surround amp also has stereo audio connectors, and I can fallback to these for *vcd's, but nonetheless, I can't really recommend the upgrade (especially if your hometheater only has a digital audio input) Use this firmware upgrade with caution, other people have reported other problems with it as well.

N/A 10 of 10 MP3 long filename Comments: I just took the risk to upgrade my Bluesky 100 with the firmware available on the veseg site as mentioned on this board. I first checked the hardware and software version but they were way of what the new firmware version is. I had version 1.0 or something on my player while the new firmware had version 4 or something. I did decide to go for it and I'm happy to say that the upgrade worked 100%. I now can play SVCD with sound. Cheers, Jo.

I've read it from one guy but what about the others? It's because I would like to buy a dvd which is only available in region 1. N/A No rating Comments: please be carefull. several people report problems with the flash. Seems like there are several "models"of bluesky 100. This is the problem with these cheap DVD players : manufacturers shop around. Before flashing make sure you have the correct hardware !!!

CVD? $100 N/A 9 of 10 miniDVD/cDVD MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: tried several brands of discs, no problem up till now DVD is not a clone of veseg beverly hills, it is the same (Veseg buys it in the same place) Update of the firmware on their web site (www.veseg.de, on the bottom choose "download", choose DVD player Beverly hills", download and follow the instructions) the SVCD sound problem disappears ! It also contains a few small changes in the menu (Menu + "7420" gives the info, after the update, when viewing the menu you can change the region code with "199x" with x=region code) firmware upgrade of DVD loader : www.dv-rec.de (follow the instructions !) These are German sites, and entirely in German.
