N/A 2 of 10 Comments: ATTENTION: A RANTING SCREED ON AUDIOLOGIC DVD CRAP The Audiologic DVD-101 is a piece of crap. There is a problem with VCD PBC menus. The remote control can't be used to enter anything on the numeric keypad unless it's a "1" or a "2". The keypad actually works under the "Title" digest feature so I know the remote is working just fine. What this means is that if I try to create a Photo Album of jpeg still images using WinOnCD that has a menu with more than two entries, I can't select those other entries. THIS SUCKS! I'm supposed to be able to create a photo album that can contain 1900 images max (99 slideshows of 99 photos). Now the most I can do are two slideshows of 99 photos. WinOnCD creates beautiful menus with thumbnail images of each photo. However, I CAN'T SELECT THEM BECAUSE OF THIS STUPID PROBLEM. The best I can do is enter a "1" or a "2" and keep hitting the "next" button to scroll through the WHOLE album to get to the photo I want to see. I know it's not the VCD I made because I tried it in another DVD player (KLH brand) and it worked. When trying to contact the technical support line listed in the back of the owner's manual they explained the situation like this: 1) No factory repair is possible since the factory is in China 2) The manufacturer sends tons of these units to the U.S. to cover defects not by repair but by replacement 3) Since this is out of warranty and they don't have any units available to replace this one, I'M SCREWED I'll bet you that all Audiologic DVD-101 units have this same design defect and that the knee-jerk response to this kind of problem (had it still been under warranty) would have been to simply replace the unit with something that WOULD HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. Oh, and by the way, NO FIRMWARE UPDATES ARE AVAILABLE! Sorry if I sound pissed but this really chaps my hide. I rated this unit a "2" because it otherwise actually functions as advertised. Had it not I would have rated it a "1". Moral of the story: BUY AMERICAN! DON'T BUY OVERSEAS CRAP! READ REVIEWS LIKE THIS ONE BEFORE GETTING SUCKERED INTO BUYING CRAP!

CVD? $179 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: I just bought it from Fry's as a display model for 179. First thing I did when I got home was to test out MP3, and VCD burned on imation, memorex, and some no name brands including CD-RW. Everything worked wonderful. The only thing is that loading time takes a bit longer than I would like. I recently tested out the samples for XVCD and XSVCD one this site and both worked great. Even though the manual does not specify the ability to play them. I know there is a code for region free, but I don't have any DVD's from other regions so that's just not important for me.

CVD? $179 N/A 9 of 10 miniDVD/cDVD Comments: Sometimes has a Verticle Hold problem when you power it up without a DVD in the drawer. Placing a DVD in the player corrects the problem.
