CVD? $550 N/A 10 of 10 Comments: Hello, just got DV88 (NOT 88P or 88Plus - just simple 88) and very happy especially taken into account the reduced price. Some of you mentioned it is able to play JPG and SACD stereo. Is it true and how to get it worked? I have 1.74 and LT13 firmware but I'm upgrading it this weekend. Thank you in advance, Sergei

CVD? $1000 N/A 8 of 10 MP3 long filename Comments: + Superb sound and picture quality Easy to upgrade with new firmware Plays lots of formats Upgrade program for DVD-audio and progressive scan - Very slow Extremly slow when playing MP3 (no random for MP3) User interface isn't the best Compatibility: I have never had any problems with S/VCD:s. I have tried Princo DVD-RW witch didn't play on any other DVD I tried. There was one glitch that probably was because of cheap media but the arcam did a better job then athor players. Platinum DVD+R played with no problems. The grade would have been a ten if using it didn't involve so much waiting and if it was more easy to use. It's a shame that the have fixed theese details when everything else is so amazing.

The problem was comming from the Media itself. I am now using a A05 DVD burner + Ritek 4X DVD-R. No Problemo, the picture is perfecto !!! Gilles. N/A 9 of 10 Comments: GILLES i have sorted out half my problems with this player. when creating dvds, the dvd player seems to be most effected by the software used i.e dvdxcopy i've started to create my own backups with decryptor and dvd2one. i have no problems with play back with several different types of media im using a pioneer 105 and fws 4x dvd-r at moment. keep us posted on how ur getting on my software is 1.81 my firmware is lt37

CVD $1000 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: steele8819, I have similar problem with my Player. (It doesn't play DVD-R). This could be due to : 1) the media (type of DVD-R) 2) the DVD loader. Arcam are using DSL-710A type LO LK and LT The best would be to get from all the people who managed to get DVD-R working the type/brand of disk , the firmware and the Loader Firmware. The sequence to know the DVD Firmware + Loader Firmware is : stop, setup, 4, 7, 9, 2. Mine says : Firmware 1.81 Loader LO15 I will downgrade my firmware to LO14 this weekend.

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: ive had my player for 3 months now and had a lot of hassles with it. ive updated my software to 1.81 courtsey of arcam. music and original dvds are perfect, its just when it comes to dvd-r movies... not sure whether the rest of u have had problems, but if u have some tips on media and software to use... please let me know problems: 1. dvd-r movies seems to play without a problem until u get half way through the disc and ther picture locks up. 2. no look with dvdxcopied movies. for some reason the player will not recognise the disc although everything is fine in my dvd -rom reader 3. tried several 2 speed media with my player and the display shows dvd but doesnt play the movie can anyone offer any suggestions????

This machine won't play DVD-R's burnt using just the UDF mode in Nero (most other players like them burnt this way) It requires UDF/ISO mode At least it wouldn't for me anyway

CVD? $1000 N/A 10 of 10 Comments: Having just purchased one of these beauties I can confirm that it will play DVD-R and DVD-RW I tried it with a couple of films that I had put aside as coasters because they skipped and fell over when played on my Teac and it played them faultlessly. The DVD-R and the DVD-RW were both the cheapest available at 47p and 79p (UK) respectively. I haven't fully explored it yet but I thought I would post here before I forgot. BTW it sounds awesome too.

Great DVD playback and great CD sound. Ideal for any ex Hi-Fi buff moving into home Cinema. Probably one of the best on the market. OIt is also upgradable which makes it future proofed. You can get a progressive Scan upgrade with a DVD-audio upgrade on the way.

CVD? $1500 N/A 9 of 10 Comments: Optical output muted from 96 khz to 48kHz due to inferior "quality of jack" available to the manufacturer (so says the manufacturer). Coaxial output was not w/in range of 16kHz to 48kHz, but cannot confirm that it was 96kHz. Manufacturer promises DVD-A hardware upgrade . . . someday. Firmware was updated when unit was repaired, and additional formats may now be supported. Unit plays every brand of CDR/W that I have tried. Unit plays multi-session audio CDs w/ video "bonus tracks," but sometimes cannot read disc on first load and sometimes cannot find the second session containing the video (i.e., treats multi-session discs as single-session CD audio discs). Yeah, the remote is ill-designed, but the sound and video quality of this player are exceptional for a unit of this price.
