It plays most any video format I put in it, except miniDVD (cDVD). It has a PAL-NTSC switch right on the side, and you can force fullscreen or widescreen through the setup menu if you wish. It has pretty much all of the features of a full home DVD player. It came with a 3 hour battery, wallpack, remote, earphones, and all the cables needed for just about everything. The quality of the video is pretty good for the size, but the internal speakers are very quiet and "tinny". A small pair of cheap external speakers fixes that problem. The remote is a full-featured "credit card" style remote. There are a few front panel controls, but most of the functions are done through the remote. One small problem is that the remote has a very short range.. about 2 feet! It has video/audio jacks that can be used for both input and output! There's even an S-Video jack. It supports progressive scan when used with an external TV. So far I've tried many types and brands of CD-R, CD-R/W, DVD-R, and DVD+R burned with several different programs. All play great. It plays PAL and NTSC VCD, XVCD, SVCD, and XSVCD with full (S)VCD menu, chapter, and multiple audio support. I have to say I am very happy with this great little player. I gave it an 9 only because of the few issues mentioned above. However, It's a great portable for the price. zAp - musician2112@yahoo.com

CVD? $175 N/A 7 of 10 DVD-MP3 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: Plays SVCD, VCD2.0 discs burned w/ Nero. Haven't tried other programs for testing. Played regular MP3 discs fine, shows a MS Windows style interface w/ track names on the left, seems to read ID tags. Only complaint it doesn't appear to read DVD+R/+RW. Tested on a disc I have made of 'elmo' for our daughter, works fine in other players but not this one. Region Code hack, apparently you can press a few keys on the remote to enable other regions. I don't have any discs that I can test that.
