CVD? $? over 1 year 5 of 10 Comments: Has had problem playing regular dvd's on an off for a while. Would not play dvd+r. Tweaked adjusters under laser assembly counter clockwise and again played regular dvds ok. Tweaked a bit more an now plays dvd, dvd+r and dvd+rw without any problem!!!!? Will try on apex 1200 soon as having same problem recognizing dvd's and did play a dvd+r the other night with a lot of glitches.

CVD? $? over 1 year 8 of 10 Comments: Plays all pre-recorded DVD media. However, when I burned a Staples Brand DVD+R on my DVR and tried to play it in the APEX 1010w, it couldn't read the disk. I'm going to try some different media types.

MP3 WMA CVD? $10 180 days 7 of 10 JPG/JPEG DVD-JPG Comments: Picked this up used and for the money it's great! It's 1/2 the size of my old Samsung DVD player. It plays most of the DVD's burned on my NEC 3550a burner (doesnt like the Kypermedia DVD-R+) Sometimes it vibrates loudly while playing a DVD which is annoying and it only has a manual on/off button.

This thing works great, you people are all crazy! Burn DVD with DVD Clone III with a privately modified patch. Burned Onto Dynex DVD-R.

CVD? $40 over 1 year 8 of 10 JPG/JPEG DVD-JPG Comments: Great player for the money. Only thing I dislike is that you have to manually shut the power button off. We've had it over 2 years (Christmas gift). New to DVD burning. Tried a copy of CloneDVD3 by CloneDVD.net, not Elby, and copies only played on PC, not standalone players. Switched to DVDShrink, have DVD43 running in background, and burn to NERO 6 express and nothing but success. Used Verbatim Digital Movie dvd-r 4x (mcc) but burned at 8x with my NEC3500AG (2.18 firmware). Also was given some Teon dvd-r 8x that also burned flawlessly.

CVD? $50 over 1 year 7 of 10 JPG/JPEG Comments: well this player has been great for me. even if no one seems to say here I have also got the player to play CD+G discs and its reads the karaoke CD's so I thought that was kewl it never said that in the manuel. otherwise the only other problem has is I can't get Lion King 1 1/2 micky mouse hunt to work and theres something with beauty and the beast that makes the DVD movie playback pause and that. Otherwise its been a great cheap player

When you put a disk in it usually ejects it right away without even attempting to read it. It doesn't even spin first. After closing the tray anywhere between 1 and 6 more times it spins up the disk and then it works fine.

CVD? $50 N/A 9 of 10 Comments: this player was a Xmas gift last year, and so far it's played everything I've thrown at it (DVD-R, DVD+RW, svcd) with no problems. I just picked up a couple of region 0 PAL dvd's, and was thinking I'd have to convert to NTSC - they played perfectly in this player!! No hacks, no mods, totally stock, it converts PAL to NTSC on the fly. I already thought this was a great little player, now I am loving it even more - I'm going to try and find another one and keep it as a back up in case this one dies.

CVD? $50 N/A 2 of 10 Comments: This player lasted about 20 disks and now it won't power up. When I called Apex they said they would recommend just buying another one since you can get one for $40 or so. Well at $2 per play that is pretty darn expensive. My Pioneer is 5 years old and still plays just fine and while it cost 8X more it is still cheaper than $2 per play.

Other than that it plays everything I have tried including MPG files (of the right size must be vcd or svcd compatible). Rating would have been alot higher back in November when I first gotit but now there many other low cost dvd player that seem to be more consistant. All apex player seem to really vary depending on manufacturing date and firmware. Just because one 1010 will play seems like the next one may not. Still a good player. FYI I used a optorite 203 burner with memorex and fiji discs.

N/A 3 of 10 DVD-MP3 Comments: It is clear that these units have problems loading some DVD-R disks. Must have something to do with the autoload and the menu. Mine will not play DVD-R disks burned in my Panasonic DMR-E10H. Just stays at loading.... However the same disks play fine in my TDK PC drive and my Toshiba SD-4205. DVD-R disks burned in my TDK indiDVD PC drive will play in the Apex 1010W. All testing done with Memorex DVD-R 4X disks. After searching the web I found many people complaining about the same problem with the 1010W, guess you get what you pay for.

N/A 6 of 10 JPG/JPEG Comments: I have two of these. I had great success with SVCD. I got a Optorite DVR this week. Tried Memerex DVD-r and dvdcopy xpress it would not work. Stays in a"Loading Disk" mode. Today I tried a fuji DVD-R with dvd shrink and nero. I had the same results both play fine on the PC. Any ideals. Both disk were 4x and were burned at 4x (Xpress doesn't give a speed but it took about 18 min). I have a ad600a and it would not play them either upgraded my firmware to LI-18 now it won't play at all.

It also plays VCD and Kodak CD's with no problem. It reads JPG and MP3's as well written as a data cd. I recently purchased a Sony DRU500A. It played both DVD-RW and DVD+RW. It has played everything that I have put in it from JPEG pictures to CD-R/RW DVD-R/RW (Compusa DVD-R and Memorex DVD-R). Not one problem except that I watch too many movies now. Updated to firmware version F and does not seem to work either. Burned using Veritas Record Now (sony) Other than that, this player is great.
