Being my first time using a progessive scan dvd play this one was not a good first. maybe i had a defective unit but all my dvd's,dvd-r/rw,svcd,vcd all had a freezing problem every 3 mins or so It got worse as time went on. So i took it back to samsclub and got my money back after 2 months..and another thing. in progressive mode the image looks like it's bouncing..it's very noticable and happened only in progressive mode. I took it back and got a DVB312. stay away fro mthis product please.

5 points for features and cost only $70 from Sam's Club. This player sounds like it's coming from a can, for audiophiles it will become annoying. The WMA playback skipped tunes or didn't completely play a few tunes. Thought the OSD controls limited and has MSDOS like panels rather than GUI. Seemed to be 15+ second delays between selection and execution. Made broken a Philips DVD player look good. Exchanged that unit the next day for a Toshiba dv-k620 for the same price which seems to be working smoother.

DVD+R, DVD+RW by Verbatim, Fuji works just fine. Seen some barely noticable "snow" on black fields ( like on totally dark moments between episodes). Other than this - it's perfect. Price is $68 at Sam's club. Read on internet it should work with DVD-R/RW. Progressive scan, multisystem, stylish. You can buy it on internet for $130-140. For some reason they sell it as region free.
