MP3 320kbit/s WMA CVD? $80 N/A 10 of 10 DVD-RAM Comments: I'm using this entirely as a second/bedroom player, and to connect to a panasonic DVD-R. Picture and sound quality is pretty good considering it cost just £60 from Richer Sounds in Colchester. Plays DVD-R made with the Panasonic DMRE50 with no problems, VCD no problems, haven't tried any +R discs though. At this price you should have one already! www.richersounds.co.uk seems to be the only place selling them.

CVD? $100 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Great player, bought from richer sounds. only a few minor problems, sometimes has problem with 2x zoom. seems to skip ONCE each time a film is played.(this is near the begining and on VCD/SVCD also so not a problem with layer transition) the picture seems to come out quite dark, but fiddiling with the brightness/comtrast controls makes it look great. PROS: works great with VCD/SVCD Macrovision can be turned of Mp3 support Very cheap only £70 from richer sounds CONS: the remote is shite, you have to be aiming EXACTLEY at the centre of the damn player! few niggles with the colour and skiping but picture quality is great. i would recomend this player to anyone who wants to play VCD/SVCD or make copys to video tape, the pirates dream!!

CVD? $100 N/A 5 of 10 Comments: I gave this player a 5 based on the fact I'm sure mine is faulty, it seems to jump to the next scene before the current scene has ended. I'm going to take it back to Richer Sounds in Glasgow and see if they will replace it. If all goes well I would give this player a 9 due to its ability to play vcds without flaw and that was one of the main reasons I got it.

CVD? $90 N/A 7 of 10 DVD-MP3 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: the new versions don't play VCDs unless you know the hack. The MP3 player is terrible, there is nothing about it in the manual, but the navigation is awful and it just plays them in alphabetical order & you can't even read the track/album name on screen (cannot get enough characters on screen) this seems to be the only downfall of this player, for the price I can't complain too much though. From what I have noticed, there is no Widescreen autoswitching either, you have to manually change your TV (very annoying when you have mixed DVDs that have 16:9 and 4:3 videos on them)

CVD? $100 N/A 10 of 10 miniDVD/cDVD DivX Comments: Just bought both the 421 and 451 from Richer Sounds (UK) for £70 and £90 respectively based on what I had read here. The macrovision and region hack works flawlessly and easily with the instructions already posted. Plays all region DVDs inc RCE. Plays DVD-R and DVD-RW (havent tried + discs) Plays SVCD and VCD. Plays Mini DVD. (Yup a big suprise!) Outputs NTSC discs to PAL50 (which means you could make a VHS copy if you wanted to) (Only tested on the 451 but they are both the same with the exception of DD and digital outputs). The machine has a very small footprint and looks quite stylish. As has been mentioned, the remote is a bit naf - but works fine - (so who cares!) Dont wait - get your hands on it before it sells out! Have fun

CVD? $100 N/A 7 of 10 JPG/JPEG MPEGISO Comments: plays everything I threw at it ....except jpegs (but played the mpeg I made form the Avi I made form the jpeg!!! nice looking unit - small and thin immediate set-up pictutre quality is fab - but I must admit I'm not used to looking at DVD....its miles better than tape anyway!! £79.99 at Richer Sounds

CVD? $100 N/A 8 of 10 DivX Comments: Bought this as a present for someone. Found it plays DVD-R and DVD-RW very well.. Even played some cheap horrid media. Super slimline nice silver finish. Picture is ok a little rough but maybe I'm being picky. Audio seems a little quiet, even more so than perhaps some of the other players out there. The bonus of being able to disable MicroVision is a real plus these days when it seems almost impossible to find it on the expensive players. The fact that it can play VCD and SVCD has to make this one of the best buys I have seen for ages! One point that maybe people haven't got across is that it feels like a decent player, IE it's not plasticy to the feel, it's nice and heavy. ;) Not one for the DVD experts, but if you want a second Player its a good choice.

CVD? $100 N/A 9 of 10 Comments: There is a new firmware shipping, which means no VCD due to licencing restrictions :( But it can be removed with a simple hack :) It's based on the region free hack (Push setup, then next, previous, next previous). Select region 255 for region free. Press down until you get to 5001 - change this to 5000 and you're away - it'll play VCDs and SVCDs Changing the other numbers to 4000 and 3000 disables macrovision and parental codes. A great player at a great price (get richer sounds to price match their web site!)

N/A 5 of 10 Comments: I bought this player mainly to play DVD and VCD on. I bought it on the advice gained from this site and others. When I try to play a VCD it says "WRONG DISC" and that's it. I can't find a hack to make it play VCDs. Anyone help?
