Further to my earlier post here regarding this media, I now have a Pioneer 07 and found that:

Marginal improvement in writing at 4x, although some discs fail verification immediately after writing early on in the disc. 2x and below as per my A04 post.

Those that do verify in the writer are often nasty in a number of DVD-ROM drives - lots of error correction going on there (CD-Speed looks like a SETI@Home graph !).

Only one disc had anything that looked like a smooth ramp up in speed as the disc progressed, upto the 3.6Gb mark where it all went to pot and only just made it to the edge.

Incredible variation in quality within the same spindle. OK for small projects (especially data) if you can get them at rock bottom prices.

Does not even verify in the recorder immediately after burning. Marginally better results at 2x, very poor results indeed at 1x. Only reliable in my tests upto the 2Gb mark. Will never touch these again. Bad show. What little of the disc was readable did play in a picky Sony standalone.
