	this hack is the same as any other newer philips recorders (eg; dvdr-3305)this hack is from this model 3305 posted earlier; just repeat these SIMPLE steps...... 1/MAKE SURE NO DISC IS IN MACHINE SWITCH ON AND WAIT UNTIL DISPLAY SHOWS NO DISC ENTER 0009 AND PRESS OK THIS WILL DISPLAY THE REGION CODE THE MACHINE IS SET TO. open /close tray 2/ DISPLAY SHOWS NO DISC; ENTER 0086000 AND PRESS OK . again ....open /close the tray. now region free ...to vary-fy region . use step 1 again ENJOY......

	Further to the earlier hack which I tried and found didn't work if you only did what was stated in that hack ..... While the Region does show as 0 after the hack is applied, trying to play a DVD from a different region fails. What you need to do after applying the hack is to physically power off the machine, and then power it back on. It seems that the Region is stored in memory when the box is 'booted' and isn't overridden there when the patch is applied, but only when the re-boot takes place. After that, DVDs from all regions are fine!

	1/MAKE SURE NO DISC IS IN MACHINE SWITCH ON AND WAIT UNTIL DISPLAY SHOWS NO DISC ENTER 0009 AND PRESS OK THIS WILL DISPLAY THE REGION CODE THE MACHINE IS SET TO. open /close tray 2/ DISPLAY SHOWS NO DISC; ENTER 0086000 AND PRESS OK . again ....open /close the tray. now region free ...to vary-fy region . use step 1 again ENJOY...... 3/ Complete the upgrade by stopping the power to it an restarting it that way. 4/ Enjoy! :)

	I could not even get the screen to show the current region. I even tried a few other Philips hacks, still no luck. I suspect the fault lies with the remote controller or me! I will again another time.

	I tried again later and found a slightly different way. After power up and no disc showing, I entered 00009 then pressed the OK button, it came up with showing region zero. I did not even have to open close the tray. However I then did open and close anyway, then unplugged it from the wall. Replugged it and I was away with region free.

	Switch on (display shows no disc) On remote control press 0086000 followed by OK Switch off using remote. When you switch on again, DVD player is region free (I found that this is all that is necessary - the other hack suggestions did nothing. eg 00009 etc)

	I tried the hack posted by riskman as it seemed simplest and it worked first time no problem. 1)power on (display shows no ''disc''. 2)press 0086000 then ok. 3)power off and back on with remote control and that should do it.
