It appears no hack needed for this player. I have tested region 1, 2 and 5 DVDs without problems. Just insert the the disc and play. The manual does not list any information about DVD regions in either the specifications, instructions or troubleshooting. It appears the unit was built region free. The unit is finicky about dirty discs, with freezing images from ime to time.
