| Region code hack posted by P. Maizitis, December 31 2002: Sorry for the multi-post on this but the solution for the power-down issue effecting the region free hack was right next door. The hack for Philips DVD 580HC works for the Philips DVD 580MT and is power-down resistant! I verified this hack works with soft (remote) power-down. To make the region free hack "permenent" press stop 5 times after you enter the initial codes. Complete instructions: "Region code hack posted by Thotan at December 30 2002: press eject on the player press programm 1 , 3 , 5 , 6 , X press stop 5 times x is the region code 0-6" | ||||
| Region code hack posted by bghill, July 13 2003: Hack works for firmware DVD580M171V01-ES-021225. Purchased Target 6/03. I did not encounter the problem with hard power-off. I unplugged the player and also powered off on the player, and the hack still worked. Also, I changed the region setting 11 times, so if there is a limit to the number of times you can change regions, it is an unusually high one. | ||||
