The LG 5000 hack works fine (this is only software to access the region menu, no firmware will be changed).
http://aiwaownersnetwork.tripod.com/pages/lg/5000_series_firmware.html

It will not enable 480i/p hdmi output, but all other resolutions works fine.

Power off LG DV392H
Power On LG DV392H
Wait for Hello ... Load ... NoDisc
When NoDisc then use Remote press open/close button
"000" (using Remote obviously)
The connected TV will display
Region Management Test Mode
Current EEPROM_REGION_CODE "x" <--
x being whatever code it is
Press new region number <0-6>: _
Enter "0"
Press PAUSE key (on remote) to exit
LG logo should be displayed on TV Screen
Press Power button to shut down.

Power up and confirm if working.

Should work

Just did mine

Just tried it, but nothing happens.
What I did is this:
Turn player on (without a dvd in it).
Wait till "noDISC" appears in the LCD of the player.
Pressed "eject" button (to open the tray).
Pressed "000"...
and nothing happens!

I saw you're talking about DV392H... mine is DVX392H.
Are we talking about the same player???
Check this site of LG... this is the player I'm talking about.
Is this the one you have too?

If so, what do I do wrong? The "crack" you mention is the one I have used in another LG player I have and worked just fine...but not in this one.

Waiting yours.

The one mentioned above with "000" method worked for LG DV388 also. I had stayed in Europe for many years (8) and moved to another zone and all my legally bought DVDs could nothave been played without this hack. Thanks. Shreekanth

I must confirm that no.1 hack works on my LG DVX392H too BUT follow the instructions and burn it on any empty CD-R!!! If you do so using DVD-R or DVD+R, hack will not work since the player thinks you are attempting to play the DVD file..so DISC ERROR shows up
pretty simple!

have fun

Method #1 confirmed works with DV392H-N, method #2 does _not_ (unit purchased on Nov 29, 2008).

Hack for LG DVD Player DV392H

I purchased an LG DVD Player DV392H online in Japan directly from BIC Camera for 7,980 yen (around 85 USD with free shipping) on March 30, 2010. I knew that it was “hackable” because it can be purchased pre-hacked for 11,993 yen (around 130 USD plus around 10 USD shipping) from a very reliable source:

http://www.theflyingpig.com/tfp/list.asp?SC=315&a ... 57CBB9B72C

I searched the Internet and tried a few of the different hacks. Nothing tried solely with the remote control worked. Here is what I did, and it is just a bit different from what has been previously published on this site. There may be other (more simple) solutions, but this is how I got my LG DVD Player DV392H to be Region Free.

1. Download the file titled KPCJ-19_1.dvd from

http://freenet-homepage.de/Targa/frieschalten_des_regionalcodes.htm

The site is not in English so don’t be surprised. I downloaded the file to my desktop on my computer running Mac OS 10.6.3 but could not for some reason on my computer that runs Mac OS 10.5.8

2. Create a new folder on desktop and give it the name: SCARLET

3. Put the downloaded file (KPCJ-19_1.dvd) into the folder created in step 2 (SCARLET).

4. Create another new folder on desktop and give it the name: RMTM0000

5. Place the folder titled SCARLET (that contains KPCJ-19_1.dvd) into the folder created in step 4 (RMTM0000)

6. Burn the folder (RMTM0000) on a new CD-R. I did not burn it in ISO format as is instructed in another post on this site. I just burned the file as normal.

7. Run the CD-R in the LG DVD Player DV392H.

8. When the menu appears, select 0 for the DVD player to be reset to Region Free.

9. Press the PAUSE button on the remote control to save the new setting.

10. Done!

If anyone is interested, I bought my LG DV392H DVD Player in 2008, at a Game in Cape Town, and Jughead_CT solution worked for me when I finally tried it today. I'm just posting this now, incase anyone is looking for current info.
