 Region code hack posted by imouto, March 16 2005:I don't know if this was just some weird lovely accident, but my dad just bought this player today and tried a Region 3 DVD and this baby played the DVD right out of the box! NO HACKING needed. No firmware/software upgrade. No button pushing on the remote. NOTHING. NADA. ZIP. ZILCH. Of course your mileage will vary. We've only tested this with a Region 3 DVD. I cannot guarantee that it works for other regions. | ||||
| Region code hack posted by fsrocha, April 05 2005: I tried with DVD's region 2, 3 and 4 and it didn't work. "Wrong Region" message appears on the screen and the DVD player doesn't accept any command. I works OK with region 0 (region free DVD). Does anyone have or can find the region code hack ? | Other hack posted by Mastermind, June 19 2005: The original DVD drive will play any region. I have 2 units direct from sam's that play fine however I purchased another on with a difrent date code and it no longer playes anythign but reg 1, I dumped the rom from the first series and programed a new chip droped it in the 3rd unit and it works fine. I knwo that not everyoen has the equipment for this but if you do I can provide the rom dump for you. | ||||
