After seeing other hacks listed here for various Panasonic models, I started trying all kinds of key combinations. Here's what I have come up with:

If only we had a memory map: The Pause+FF+8 memory modifier tool *could possibly* be used to disable macrovision or change region settings. All the low memory addresses I tried just returned 00.

---The list:
Pause+Open, Pause+FF, Pause+FR --> simultaneously press & hold these buttons on the front panel
(next key before the "=" is on the remote)

Pause+Open+
Return = A 4B4 FFFF
9 = LCD Test
8 = ?
7 = VO10 62B430
6 = 1 NN 123
5 = J 000 000 00 then J 999 000 00
{4-1} = Test Mode n
0 = 01 F--- then back to NO DISC
Display = LDD 036 035 then back to NO DISC
RightArrow = LCD Test
DownArrow = FK --- --- and laser head keeps moving (STOP to go back to NO DISC)
UpArrow = 1 NN 123
LeftArrow = 01 F---
Pause = LD0 --- --- then NO DISC then LD0 036 030 then NO DISC
TopMenu = J 999 000 00
Menu = VO10 62B430
subtitle = test mode 2
audio = test mode 3
angle = test mode 4
a-b repeat = display feedback of buttons from front panel (power cycle to reset)
cancel = A 4B4 0000

Pause+FF+
8 = Read/Write memory mode
"1" for Read, "2" for Write
enter memory address, then Enter
contents displayed for Read, asked to enter value if Write (enter to Write)
after this, can again enter "1" for Read, "2" for Write
9 to exit Read/Write memory mode

4 = display several values
FEP 000300
SRV 00009A
ODC 000065
AV_ 000096
SYS 610066
then returns back to NO DISC
5 = T1 0000 0000
6 = T2 0000
7 = 23 F5 (need power cycle to exit)
Menu = ** 10 0000 (can change the 1 using digits, the first zero with Up/Down)
Display = LDC 030 031

Pause+FR+
2 = ERR 00 / 30
Display = 1 62B430

Hi guys,

sorry to say this, but: There are NO remote hacks for Panasonic players. They have to be modificated internally. But this modification is easy to use (no need of "specialists" ;-) ) and it is not expensive. In europe about $20,--. After this on you can enable macro off, change region, enable MP3 on RV31, ...

Hope this helps!!!

I find this on the Internet:
Panasonic DVD-RV32
1. Email or write to Panasonic service department and ask for the DVD service Disc No.2 all the info is supplied.
2. It doesn't tell you what it does but the codes turn your player into multiregion.
3. For disabling Macrovision follow the same steps and replace code 3192 to 3193 after you have done the multiregion upgrade.
4. Note This discs works with the new RA players as well.

Can you confirm this? It's real or not?

I wrote to Panasonic Australia and received my copy of Service Disc 2. Following the instructions they provided it does not work on the RV32, it is designed for the RV31. Does any one know how to access the disc for the RV32 player. It does have many menus on it but they are all in Asian Symbols

just got this player from Argos for £34 (with discount) as an alternative for an Alba 45! anyway - to the hacks....

been reading up on the net, trying to find a region free hack - no luck anywhere :( But i've been messing about with the display panel button hacks shown here and came up with something different that may be of some use......

1.Hold Pause || + Skip Back << on the panel
2.Press Menu on the remote
3.Fto2 will be displayed on the LCD
4.Release all buttons

Here's the interesting parts....

At this point you can press.....

1.Play on the panel for some LCD test thing (?)

2.Repeat on the Remote will bring up FIRM _ _ _ _ _ on the display. Allows you to enter 6 digits! Interesting?

3.>10 on the Remote will bring up OpCode _ _ _ _ on the display allowing you to enter 5 digits! Hmmmm?

4.Press << or >> to change between Fto1 and Fto2

To get rid of the FTo1/o2 Hold Open + Pause + << on the panel until Initialise appears - then hold Open + Pause + Stop which makes All Set appear - done!

Anyway - hope this leads to a remote hack - probly not tho :(

If somebody has a HP 48G or higher engineering calculator they could download a program which will allow the calculator to learn the remote strings through the IR port. The calcualtor or software doesn't care how long the string is.

I have been told that region can be changed by : No disc in tray; Press STOP : Press STOP; Press SET-UP: KEY IN 3, 8, 8, 8, 3 Then Region no. want dvd to play e.g O for zone free, I haven't tried as I don't understand enough as I'm an "oldie" and it seems too simple and I don't want to "risk" damage.

1. Remove DVD/CD from your drive.
2. Press the following keys on your remote:
[Setup] [1] [>=10] [6] [4] [3] [8]

3. A new menu option will appear named Other followed by four stars. Use one of the following codes to:
3192 -> Multi-Region Enable
3193 -> Macrovision Disable

In my case the new menu option appeared in the sub-menus (all of them) in the setup screen I was in. It honestly looks like nothing is happening, and then boom there it is.

This removed the Macrovision from my Canadian Panasonic RV-32. It may have done the region as well but I don't have a DVD from another region to find out.

Have fun.

depending on your specific model you may have to press different buttons on the case to get rid of the FT01/FT02 mode!

on my model you have to:

1 - Hold Open + Pause + << on the panel until "Initialise" appears
2 - QUICKLY hold Open + Pause + Stop whilst "Initialise" is displayed which makes "All Set" appear
3 - Your machine is now reset to factory standard.

Someone emailed me saying that this didn't work but holding << + Stop + Open will make "All Set" appear - so try all the buttons!

I also have this Canadian model, and the menu option appears, but when I entered the # for region free, nothing happens. I put the number in each 3 of the sub menus. Can anyone clarify this? Is there a missing step or something? Do I put it in all 3 spots? Thanx.

With the << + Stop + Open. Got "Reset" instead of "All Set"

Just click on "remote hackable"

Just none for Panasonic dvd players, still desperately searching for hack for RV 32 (US version)!

Help, anyone! Greatly apreciated!

I wrote to Panasonic Australia and they sent me a black and gray remote control - about 3cmx8cm - which had one button. Just point and press and suddenly you have a zone free DVD player. I have been playing all zone DVDs for about four years.

Apparently the remote works on all Panasonic DVDs.

Good luck
