I was worried about the mono audio input on the card for analogue audio/video capture but their sales department informed me that their software now uses the stereo input from your soundcard instead. Excellent card. Have been using it for over a year. Superb picture quality. So easy to dump the raw MPEG stream to disc and then author a DVD from it. Now you can archive broadcast masters to DVD for less than 70p a disc ... who needs video tape anymore!! Comments posted by Rodney Neill from United Kingdom, May 23, 2004: Compatibility: Win95? Fantastic Tuner, flawless install. Beats Hauppage rubbish anyday from the perspective of Tuner stability and software quaility. If like me, you want to do analague capture with stereo audio this is the limit of the card. Only mono input and very limited MPEG authoring facility. Shame - if they provided Stereo capture and full authoring facility this will be an Awesome card Comments posted by Graham from United Kingdom, February 28, 2004: Compatibility: Win95? Win98? Win2K? This card will allow you to record/watch Freeview (UK)channels or DVB-T in other countries. The software is easy to use and allows for schedule recording. It has an anologue capture port that works well with Dscaler but there is an issue with the analogue driver that Nebula are aware off so other programmes tend to drop frames and cause other problems. If you have internet connection the software has 7 day EPG and audio subtitles. The support is quick and honest in that they acknowledge there are problems but they listen to the user and release regular updates. The newest version of the software allows for video streaming over a lan which some people will love. Well worth the extra money over the avermedia DVB-T that I had before. Needs a fairly powerful PC. They recommend at least a 800Mhz but my aging Athlon 850 struggles if I try to capture and view at the same time. During recording, CPU load hits 100%, but will drop back down to reasonable level if I minimise the viewing window; likewise, I can view live broadcasts without problems. The card has composite analogue input, allowing to capture analogue singals, but you can only set timer to record digital TV channels and not of the analogue input. Again, I agree their help desk is pretty efficient. Actually appologied for not replying my email until the next day, now that makes a change. Superb card, superb quality and excellent software with yet more features being developed all the time. Support respond to emails within a day and actually listen to your comments on bugs, minor improvements etc! Minor install problem under win2k sorted within 24hrs by support- must have sp3 installed or doesn't work! Only marked down by 1 because presently the mpeg2 streams need some massaging by third party software to make them compliant with editor packages for burning to DVD/SVCD - something to do with broadcast DVB Mpeg2 being in a different packet formation to allow for timelags in the signal and packet loss - apparently the same for all these new cards that just dump the dvb stream to disk but I am confident the integrated software will soon be polished to the extent that third party fixes such as Pvaintrumento will not be necessary Comments posted by rf from Other, June 05, 2003: Compatibility: Win95? Worked straight out of the box, no messing! Only one problem :-( The captures appear to be running at x2 normal speed but I'm sure I can sort that. Comments posted by Gaz from Other, May 19, 2003: Compatibility: Win95? Win98? Win2K WinXP? Vista? NT4? MAC? Linux? - Rated: 9 of 10. |

Basically a Freeview Digital TV card but probably the best DVB tuner/capture card for the UK. Captures directly to MPEG2/48kHz audio, has a very good 7-day guide/EPG scheduler which even works in background ("Silent" mode). Simple EPG listings are provided free from Nebula's site, the program will just download them and you have your neat little guide within. The DigiTV program captures MPEG2 in its broadcast form - CPU usage is relatively high in recording mode, but it is NOT doing encoding, it's just grabbing what mpeg2 are offered from the transmissions. Hence MPEG Bitrates aren't configurable, it follows what the channels broadcast them in. (eg BBC1 streams could go up to 15.00 Mbps VBR! But most other channels have average 4 -6 Mbps VBR which are well suited for DVD!) At the time of writing, the captured mpegs aren't 100% compatible with some other mpeg editors or dvd authoring programs, but this can be easily overcome by running opening them with the freeware PVAStrumento and rewriting a compatible mpeg. Since what you record is what being broadcasted, after burning to DVD, the results look exactly like the original broadcast quality - just stunning! They're still working hard on improving the software, teletext/subtitles will come end of april/beginning of may. Last of all - the Nebula Tech Support is EXCELLENT! Emails are replied within a few hours, and they actually listen to what you say/suggest and explain in depth in solving any problem that i was encountering. I had been using ATI AIW Radeon & WinTV & PV256T and was about to get somethng like a Nova-T but luckily I discovered DigiTV - for only 20quid more than a DVB Freeview box, it's probably the best £120 that i've spent! Well worth recommending! Comments posted by REiREi from Other, April 15, 2003: Compatibility: Win95? Win98? Win2K WinXP? Vista? NT4? MAC? Linux? - Rated: 9 of 10. |
