First - please add DVB-S2 to the cupported features!
Great card, poor software - the bundled media centre software wouldn't install due a runtime package conflict with GB-PVR (which is the one I wanted to use anyway).
Compact, does what it promises.

I would not have bought the HAUPPAUGE HVR-4000 if I'd known about the lack of 64-bit drivers (none at all for XP64 or Vista 64), as I have dual core and like the performance. I have XP 32-bit on one drive and 64bit for faster gaming and applications like video/audio editing. Problems with the card, software, remote control also.

Hauppauge promised that 64-bit drivers for the card were on the way , but 6 months on, they don't respond to customer demand. I contacted trading standards over the claims made by Hauppauge that it is Vista compatible, yet Vista 64-bit doesn't recognize the card at all.

Forums entered by Hauppauge make you believe 64-bit drivers are on the way, but don't listen to Hauppauge, they have other cards with 64-bit drivers, they just don't want to employ developers so I've heard- terrible customer service, the software DVB-T has dreadful blocky graphics and the user interface program Cyberlink PowerCinema is not user-friendly & hard to understand. The remote control fails to turn the card on or select channels, and changing channels using the mouse is too fast (the channel list scrolls much too fast). I've yet to test the High Definition section which I've heard works OK if you have a dual core and beefy graphics card, but there are few HD channels, so what's the point in buying it anyway??? Waste of £120.00, wish I'd bought a load of games instead.

AVOID BUYING THIS HAUPPAUGE HVR-4000 LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!
Trading Standards recommend I take action due to false advertising, lack of customer service and poor product functionality... (How was that for a review)

May 2007. This card is worth the money, the picture quality from all 4 sources is top-end and the HDTV (here in the UK found free on Sky just by connecting the dish lead) is perfect and really looks awesome on my 1920*1200 display.

I prefer the drivers that come on the boxed CD. The installation is a bit user-unfriendly as you need to install the drivers before the apps -but a beginner is given no real clue about which is what.

Once you get it installed though it is easy to use. I avoided changing the PowerCinema app with any upgrades, as the boxed version is specially tweaked just for this card. Updated versions of PowerCinema from the Cyberlink site do not allow satelitte input, so stick with the boxed software for now.

I haven't tried it with Vista, as Vista is a pain in the ass I am trying to avoid using as long as possible.

The HVR-4000 works fine under XP here and Vista drivers/software are available on the Hauppauge web site.

The software has a few rough edges at the moment but all in all, I am quite pleased get High Definition recorded and played back on my PC (Pentium Dual 1.8G).

I don't know when the original poster put up his review as unfortunately they don't see to have date shown.

WinTV-HVR-4000!!!!!

I bought this card hoping that it's going to do wonders, sadly it doesn't even have drivers for both win XP or Vista!

Another sad thing it's only listed on the HAUPPAUGE UK website
(http://www.hauppauge.co.uk) and again without support drivers but they are willing to sell
it to unsuspecting buyers.

When look on their other websites (even the United States) they don't even talk about it.

I have two other tuners, the TERRATEC Cinagy HDTV 2400i DT and
the FusionHDTV Dual Digital whitch both work fine with Win XP
Media Center Edition and Windows Vista 64bit.

Does anyone have any ideas about that card?
